The Gangneung ITS World Congress (Intelligent Transport Systems World Congress) is often referred to as the "Olympics of Transportation." It is the world's largest exhibition and international academic conference dedicated to Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).
This marks a truly meaningful international event, as it is the third time South Korea is hosting the congress, following Seoul in 1998 and Busan in 2010.

Dates: Monday, October 19, 2026 – Friday, October 23, 2026 (5 days)

🏛️ Venue & Main Facilities Guide
Leveraging the world-class infrastructure originally built for the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, this congress has been set up on a grand scale. The key facilities and venues include:

1. Gangneung Speed Skating Arena (Main Exhibition Hall)
Role: Serves as the primary exhibition hall where leading domestic and global mobility/ITS companies and organizations showcase cutting-edge transportation technologies and products. Visitors can experience real-world applications of future mobility, including autonomous driving and smart traffic systems.

2. Gangneung Convention Center (GCO)
Role: Newly constructed as the main stage for this congress (4 stories above ground, total floor area of approximately 18,967 m²).
Key events, including the opening and closing ceremonies, academic sessions, policy discussions, and the gala dinner—bringing together global experts from around the world—will take place here.

3. Outdoor Plaza & Demonstration Areas
Technology Demonstration Zone (Hockey Centre Outdoor Parking Area, etc.): An interactive space where visitors can directly experience advanced technologies, such as autonomous vehicle rides and smart pedestrian crossings.

Culture & Science/Technology Experience Zone (Speed Skating Arena Outdoor Plaza): A vibrant open-air space combining diverse outdoor exhibits and cultural activities.

강릉 ITS 세계총회(Intelligent Transport Systems World Congress)는 교통 분야의 올림픽이라 불리는 세계 최대 규모의 지능형교통체계(ITS) 전시회 및 국제 학술 행사입니다. 

국내에서는 1998년 서울, 2010년 부산에 이어 세 번째(강릉)로 개최되는 매우 뜻깊은 국제 행사입니다.
주제: 이동성을 넘어 하나되는 세계 (Beyond Mobility, Connected World) 
개최 기간: 2026년 10월 19일(월) ~ 10월 23일(금) (5일간) 
개최 장소: 강릉 올림픽파크 일원 

🏛️ 전시장 및 주요 시설 안내
이번 총회는 과거 평창동계올림픽을 치러낸 강릉 올림픽파크의 인프라를 적극 활용하여 대규모로 조성되었습니다.

핵심 시설과 전시장은 다음과 같습니다.

1. 강릉스피드스케이팅 경기장 (핵심 전시장)
역할: 국내외 유수의 모빌리티 및 ITS 관련 기업, 기관들이 대거 참여해 첨단 교통 기술과 제품을 선보이는 메인 전시관으로 활용됩니다.

자율주행, 스마트 교통 시스템 등 미래 교통의 실물을 직접 관람할 수 있습니다. 

2. 강릉컨벤션센터 (GCO) 
역할: 이번 총회를 앞두고 건립된 주무대이자 신축 컨벤션 시설입니다 (지상 4층, 연면적 약 1만 8,967㎡ 규모). 
주요 행사이자 개·폐회식, 전 세계 전문가들이 모이는 ITS 학술회의(세션), 정책 토론, 갈라디너 등이 이곳에서 진행됩니다. 

3. 야외 광장 및 체험장
기술시연장 (하키센터 야외 주차장 등): 자율주행차 시승, 스마트 횡단보도 등 첨단 기술을 직접 체험할 수 있는 공간입니다. 
문화·과학기술 체험존 (스피드스케이팅 경기장 야외광장): 다양한 야외 전시와 문화 행사가 어우러지는 공간으로 꾸며집니다.
