죄 사함과 사랑의 은혜

눅7:50“예수께서 여자에게 이르시되 네 믿음이 너를 구원하였으니 평안히 가라 하시니라”

“인생은 아름다워”라는 이탈리아 영화가 있습니다. 유대인 가장이 어린 아들과 함께 유대인 수용소에서 겪는 일을 한편의 연기로 바꾸면서 수용소의 비극적인 삶을 아름답고 가슴 저리게 표현한 영화입니다. 이 세상에 죄가 들어온 후 도처에 어둠과 죄악의 세력이 숨어 있습니다. 가장 슬픈 것은 인간의 영혼 깊은 곳에 죄가 숨어 있다는 사실입니다.

바리새인 시몬은 예수님을 자기 집으로 초청했습니다. 마음에서부터 예수님을 믿고 사랑해서라기보다 선생님으로 선지자로 존중받는 예수님을 모심으로써 친분을 과시하고 싶어했을 것입니다. 많은 사람들이 예수님을 믿고 사랑한다고 하지만 실상은 시몬처럼 예수님과의 친분을 과시하고 싶어합니다. 난 이렇게 예수님을 사랑하며 섬기는 사람이라고 말입니다.

예수님을 사랑하며 섬기는 것도 자신이 주도하면 또 다른 율법의 행위가 됩니다. 행위는 언제나 죄인에 대한 비판과 정죄를 낳습니다. ‘난 이렇게 열심히 하는데 저 사람들은 무엇하고 있는거야!’ 시몬은 자기 집에 들어온 죄 많은 여자를 바라보면서 저런 사람이 왜 우리 집에 들어오는거야! 하며 비판적인 눈초리를 보냈습니다.

평소 같으면 발걸음도 떼지 않았을 집이지만 예수님 계시기에 싸늘한 눈초리를 감수하고. 예수님을 찾아온 여인은 앞뒤 사정을 가릴 것도 없이 예수님 뒤 발 곁에 서서 울며 눈물로 발을 적시고 자기 머리털로 닦고 그 발에 입맞추고 향유를 부었습니다. 어린 아기가 잃어버렸던 엄마를 찾고 서러움에 북받쳐 울음을 터뜨리듯 여인은 울음을 터뜨렸습니다.

예수님으로 말미암아 받은 하나님의 용서와 사랑은 서러움가운데 살아온 여인을 사랑의 감격에 젖게 했습니다. 이 감격이 그녀로 하여금 옥합의 향유를 아낌없이 예수님 발에 부어드리게 했습니다. 시몬은 여인의 눈물과 감격은 아랑곳없이 예수님께서 죄인인 여인이 자기 몸에 손대게 하시는 것이 못마땅하기만 했습니다.

죄를 사함받은 경험이 없는 시몬은 여인의 행동을 이해하지 못했습니다. 그녀의 예수님을 향한 많은 사랑이 예수님의 마음을 움직였습니다.

“그의 많은 죄가 사하여졌도다 이는 그의 사랑함이 많음이라 사함을 받은 일이 적은 자는 적게 사랑하느니라” 눅7:47 

구원은 하나님의 은혜에 많은 사랑으로 감사하는 자에게 주어지는 하나님의 선물입니다.

죄사함 받아 구원에 이르는 데에는 두 단계가 있습니다. 첫 번째는 하나님의 은혜에 의하여 믿음으로 말미암아 구원을 받는 영적 구원의 단계입니다. 여인처럼 눈물을 쏟는 감격적인 경험입니다. 하나님의 사랑이 마음에 부어집니다. 예수님을 향한 사랑의 열정이 솟구칩니다. 그러나 예수님을 사랑하며 따르는 길은 핍박과 고난을 무릅써야하는 고독한 길입니다.

두 번째는 주변의 따가운 시선과 비판을 무릅쓰고 예수님을 찾아간 여인처럼 영혼의 정결함을 위해 핍박과 고난에도 불구하고 예수님과 항상 함께 하는 단계입니다.

“사람이 나를 섬기려면 나를 따르라 나 있는 곳에 나를 섬기는 자도 거기 있으리니” 요12:26 

예수님과 함께 살고 함께 죽는 시련의 과정을 통과하면서 믿음의 결국 곧 영혼의 정결함에 이릅니다.

“네 죄 사함을 받았느니라 --네 믿음이 너를 구원하였으니 평안히 가라” 평안히 가라는 예수님의 말씀을 듣는 순간, 예수님 곁에 엎드려 있던 여인의 가슴에 사랑의 감동이 물결처럼 밀려왔습니다. 자기 같은 죄 많은 인생을 구원해주시고 돌보아주시고 배려해주시는 주님의 은혜에 뜨거운 눈물을 쏟았습니다. 갑자기 예수님과 자기 자신이 친밀해졌음을 느꼈습니다. 주님과의 친밀함은 영혼의 순결을 위해 필수적입니다. 눈물을 닦고 일어나서 나가는 그녀 앞에 야곱이 맞이했던 브니엘의 아침처럼 새로운 태양이 떠오르고 있었습니다. 주님 안에서 인생은 어떤 경우에도 아름답습니다. 23. 6. 24 장기옥목사 드림

The grace of the remission of sins and love

Luke7:50“Then He said to the woman, ‘Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.’”

I have seen an Italian movie. Its title is “Life is beautiful.” This movie describes a tragic affair which was happened in the Jewish Concentration Camp, which was transformed into a dramtic and beautiful entertainment between a father and his little boy. This movie tramsforms the tragic life of Camp into the beautiful life. After the sin has come into this world, the evil and the darkness is hidden everywhere. The saddest thing lies in the fact that the sin is hidden deeply in the soul of human.

Simon, one of the Pharisees, invited Jesus to his house to eat with him. He might ask Jesus to come to his house, because he rather wanted to show off his fellowship with Jesus whom he considered as a famous teacher and prophet than he believed Jesus and loved Him. Like Simon, many Christians like to show off their fellowship with Jesus, even though they think that they believe in Jesus and love Him. So, they say, “I love Jesus so much that I serve Him earnestly.”

When the self dominates our love and service for Jesus, which will be another work of law by oneself. Human works always result in condemnation and Judgment for other sinners. They easily complain : ‘I am working so hard like this but they are doing nothing.“ When Simon saw a woman a sinner coming into his house, he threw his cold eyes to her, complaining, ’Why such woman comes to my house!‘

If it was as usual, she might not even take one step into the house of Simon but she boldly came into the house in spite of the cold treatment because Jesus was in the house. After coming into house she came to Jesus and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil. She weeped like a child who burst into tears in sorrow after finding his mother at last whom he had lost.

Forgiveness and love of God through Jesus made her who lived in sorrow fallen into the deep inspiration of love. This inspiration caused her to anoint His feet with the fragrant oil unsparingly. Simon thought Jesus let her touch His body as an unacceptable thing without considering her tears and inspiration.

Simon who had no experience of the remission of sins could not understand her behavior. Her great love toward Jesus moved His heart. “Her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.” Luke7:47 The salvation is the gift of God which is given to those who appreciate to God with their much love for His grace and love.

There is two steps to reach the salvation. First step is the spiritual salvation by God’s grace through faith. It is the inspirational experience which made us weep like her. God’s love is poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. We will feel passion of love for Jesus. However, the way to love and follow Jesus is the lonely way persevering in persecution and suffering.

Second step is always to be with Jesus in spite of all persecution and suffering for the chastity of soul like the woman who proceeded to Jesus without fearing the cold manner of the people. “If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also.” John12:26 By going through the course of ordeal living and dying with Jesus, the end of faith will be given to us, which is the salvation of our souls, namely chastity of soul.

“Your sins are forgiven. -- Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.” At the moment when she heard Jesus’ saying ; ‘go in peace’, the inspiration of God’s love struck her like a big wave. she burst tears at the grace of the Lord who saved and cared herself. She suddenly felt that Jesus became intimate with herself, which is indispensable for the chastity of soul. The new sun was rising before her when she stood after wiping tears and went out from Simon’s house like the morning of Penuel of Jacob. Our life in the Lord is beautiful in all situations. 24.
