이 노래가 처음  세상에 나왔을 때, 나( 우리별 )는 우리나라 가요는 Led Zeppelin에게

20년은 뒤졌다고 느꼈다.  ( 내 멋대로 )

물론 가사 내용도 모른채 , , 멜로디 또는 곡의 극적인 전개 과정 따위를, 내 나름대로 생각하고

아 ~ !  정말 좋구나 !

우리나라 곡들은 언제쯤 저렇게 될까 ? 

"지금" 가사를 읽어보니. . 명확한 뜻을 이해하지는 못하지만 , , ,  가사 또한 깊은 뜻을 갖고 있는 듯 하다.

이 가사는 로버트 플랜트의 순수 창작이다. 로버트 플랜트는 지미 페이지와 함께 벽난로 앞에 앉아서 사이좋게

"마약"을 하고 있었는데(...), 갑자기 무아지경에 빠져서 정신없이 가사를 써내려갔다고 한다. 정신 차리고 읽어

보니 썼던 본인이 가장 놀랐다고(...).

막상 가사를 보면 상당히 난해하고 어렵다. 성경 단어, 명언, 신비주의, 중의적인 표현이 많이 등장한다. 곡이

발표될 쯤에 하필 오컬트에 심취해 있었던 지미 페이지가 신비주의자 알레이스터 크로울리의 저택과 의상을

사들인 바람에 사탄 숭배곡이라는 루머에 휩쓸리기도 했다.

영혼을 팔아서 가사를 얻었다든가, 백마스킹하면 숨겨진 악마의 메시지가 나온다든가. 아예 이쪽은 잡지에까지

실린 내용이다.

반기독교적이라는 여론 속에서도 공식적인 해석은 내놓지 않았다. 로버트 플랜트는 자신도 가사를 볼 때마다

여러 해석이 떠오르니 명확하게 한 가지 뜻이 있는 건 아니지만, 어쨌든 이 가사는 좋은 의도를 가지고 썼으니

그런 루머로 돈 벌 거면 내 가사는 빼놓고 하라고 일침을 가했다.

그리고 가사를 보고 데꿀멍(?)한 지미 페이지는 이후 작사에서 손을 떼버리고 로버트 플랜트한테 모두 맡겨

버렸다

레드 제플린 곡중에서 가장 좋아하는곡입니다.
대학시절 음악다방가면 빼놓지 않고 신청해서 들었던 곡이죠.
천국에 이르는 계단... 마지막 기타연주는 무아지경으로 데려갑니다.
그시절엔 그랬습니다..참, 아득한 시절입니다.

한 때 표절시비도 있었지만 대표곡이다ㅡ
연주기법이 헤비메탈답지않게 세련됐다ㅡ

몽롱함을 잊지않고 듣던곡 지금들어도 지난날들의 회상에 잠깁니다.
그들의 음악에 빠지고파 30분동안을 리플레이 하였던 추억에 또 잠기게 됍니다.
