낙심과 불안 가운데 떠는 영혼

시편42:5“내 영혼아 네가 어찌하여 낙심하며 어찌하여 내 속에서 불안해 하는가 너는 하나님께 소망을 두라 그가 나타나 도우심으로 말미암아 내가 여전히 찬송하리로다”

사슴이 시냇물을 찾기에 갈급함 같이 주를 찾기에 갈급한 영혼은 하나님의 도우심을 간절히 사모하는 영혼입니다. “내 눈물이 주야로 내 음식이 되었도다.” 하나님을 갈망하지만 어느 때에 나아가서 하나님을 만날 수 있는지 아득하기만 합니다. 오늘도 영혼은 낙심과 불안 가운데 하나님을 기다립니다.

“내가 앞으로 가도 그가 아니 계시고 뒤로 가도 보이지 아니하며 그가 왼쪽에서 일하시나 내가 만날 수 없고 그가 오른쪽으로 돌이키시나 뵈올 수 없구나” 욥23:8-9 

욥의 탄식처럼 우리는 어디로 가야 하나님을 만날 수 있을는지 알지를 못합니다. “길이요 진리요 생명이신 예수님으로 말미암지 않고서는” 하나님께로 나아갈 자가 없습니다.

“너희는 여호와를 만날 만한 때에 찾으라 가까이 계실 때에 그를 부르라” 사55:6

“너희가 온 마음으로 나를 구하면 나를 찾을 것이요 나를 만나리라” 렘29:13

“말씀이 네게 가까워 네 입에 있으며 네 마음에 있다 하였으니” 롬10:8

“그는 우리 각 사람에게서 멀리 계시지 아니하도다” 행17:27 

하나님은 주님을 영접한 자의 마음에 이미 와 계십니다.

“너희 몸은 너희가 하나님께로부터 받은 바 너희 가운데 계신 성령의 전인 줄을 알지 못하느냐” 고전6:19 

예수님께서 성령으로 우리 가운데 오셨지만 우리는 예수님을 알아보지 못하고 있습니다. “신자들은 죽으신 예수나 하늘에서 통치하시는 예수를 깊이 신앙하고 있다. 그러나 자기들 안에 성령을 통하여 거하시는 예수는 거의 믿지 않는다.” (<그리스도의 영> 92쪽)

대부분의 그리스도인들이 마음을 다하여 하나님을 찾아서 마음에 모신 후에는 언제 그랬냐는 듯이 마음속에 계시는 하나님을 잊고 살아갑니다. “사모님이 사모님을 찾아온 친구를 외면해 버린다면 매우 무례한 행동이 되겠지요? 그런데 하물며 우리에게 찾아오신 하나님을 외면하고 그분을 홀로 내버려 둔다면 이 얼마나 무례한 일일까요?” <하나님의 임재연습> 90쪽

우리는 너무나 오랫동안 우리에게 찾아오신 하나님을 외면하고 살아오는 데 익숙해져 있지는 않은지요? 진정 주님을 모시고 사는 사람은 어떤 시련이나 환난이 닥쳐올지라도 생명이신 주님을 사랑하는 일에 자기 목숨을 다합니다. 주님을 근심하게 하기보다는 차라리 자기 목숨을 잃는 것이 낫습니다.

“누가 우리를 그리스도의 사랑에서 끊으리요” 롬8:35

“우리는 하나님의 지속적인 도움이 아니고서는 인생의 위험들을 피할 수 없다네. 그렇기에 우리는 끊임없이 그분의 도움을 구해야만 하지. 하지만 만일 우리가 그분과 함께 있지 않다면 어떻게 그분의 도우심을 구할 수 있겠는가? 그분과 함께 있으려면 우리는 자주 그분을 생각하는 거룩한 습관을 길러야만 한다네.” <하나님의 임재연습> 87쪽

성경은 하나님을 만나 하나님의 도우심을 입은 사람들의 기적 사건으로 가득차 있습니다. 그들은 하나님의 도우심으로 말미암아 하나님을 찬송합니다.

“주께서 나의 슬픔이 변하여 내게 춤이 되게 하시며 나의 베옷을 벗기고 기쁨으로 띠 띠우셨나이다” 시편30:11 

삶속에서 주님을 만나는 것보다 더 기쁜 일이 없습니다.

“여호와의 눈은 온 땅을 두루 감찰하사 전심으로 자기에게 향하는 자들을 위하여 능력을 베푸시나니” 대하16:9

“성령은 정신 속에 거하지 않으시고 생명 속에 거하시며, 우리가 아는 것에서 사역을 시작하시는 것이 아니라 우리의 인물됨 속에서 사역을 시작하신다.” (머레이 91쪽) 예수님만이 우리의 생명이요 구원이십니다. 주님의 도우심을 기다리는 사람은 거룩하게 되는 일에 최선을 다합니다. 인물됨이 우리를 구원하는 것이 아니지만 성령께서 구원사역을 이루어가시도록 하기 위해서는 우리의 인물됨이 필수적입니다.            23. 7. 29 장기옥 목사 드림

The soul trembling in anxiety and disquiet

Psalm42:5“Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance.”

As the deer pants for the water brooks, the soul pants for the Lord to get His help. “My tears have been my food day and night.” The soul pants for God but it is too far away to meet God. Today the soul who is also trembling in anxiety and disquiet is still waiting for God.

“Look, I go forward, but He is not there, And backward, but I cannot perceive Him; When He works on the left hand, I cannot behold Him; When He turns to the right hand, I cannot see Him.” Job23:8-9 Like the lamentation of Job, we do not know which way we have to go to find God. Except Jesus who is “the way, the truth, and the life”, no one comes to God.

“Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near.” Isa.55:6 “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” Jer.29:13 “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart:” Rom.10:8 “though He is not far from each one of us;” Acts17:27 God is already in their hearts who accepted Jesus as their Lord.

“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God,” 1Cor.6:19 Jesus came within us as the Holy Spirit but we can not recognize Him. “They have much faith in Jesus who died, or who reigns in heaven, but little faith in Jesus who dwells in them by His Spirit.” (<The Spirit of Christ> ch.10)

Most of the Christians earnestly tried to accept the Lord and after then they are busy to live forgetting God who came to dwell in their mind. “You would think it rude to leave a friend alone, who came to visit you: why then must God be neglected?” (<The Practice of the Presence of God> 10th letter)

We might be used to neglect God who came within us. Those who truly accept and live with the Lord dare to lose their life in order to love the Lord in all situation of ordeal and suffering. It is better to die rather than to make the Lord grieve. “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?” Rom.8:35

“We cannot escape the dangers which abound in life, without the actual and continual help of God; let us then pray to Him for it continually. How can we pary to Him without being with Him? How can we be with Him but in thinking of Him often? And how can we often think of Him, but by a holy habit which we should form of it?” (<The Practice of the Presence of God> 9th letter)

In the Bible, there are full of miracles which tell us about the people who met God and got His help. They praised God because of His help. “You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness.” Psalm30:11 There is no more joyful thing than that of meeting the Lord in life.

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.” 2Chr.16:9 “The Spirit does not dwell in the mind, but in the life. Not in what we know, but in what we are does the Spirit begin His work.” (op. cit. ch.10) Only Jesus is our life and salvation. Those who wait for His help do their best to get themselves holy. What we are does not give us His salvation but it is indispensable for the Spirit to work for us. 29. July 2023
