We were delighted to welcome Dr Sarah Pye to SCIPS for a truly inspiring series of workshops with pupils from Nursery to Year 8. Throughout the day, our students were taken on a fascinating journey through Malaysia’s rich and diverse wildlife, exploring the powerful narrative of how animals and humans are connected.

Dr Sarah introduced us to some of Malaysia’s most iconic and endangered species, including the remarkable Sun Bear, the intelligent Orangutan, and the curious Bearded Pig. Through engaging storytelling, real-life experiences and thought-provoking discussion, pupils learned about the challenges these animals face and the importance of protecting their natural habitats.

One of the highlights of the day was meeting Pongo the Orangutan, Dr Sarah’s special puppet companion. Pongo brought a lot of humour, warmth and laughter to the sessions! Whether he was asking us to make funny animal noises or telling Dr Sarah she had forgotten something, we loved meeting him!

Dr Sarah’s visit reminded us all of the “magic” that's within us. She shared a very simple but powerful message: every individual can make a difference in the world by using their own unique strengths and talents. It was an unforgettable experience that has inspired our school community to think more deeply about conservation and our role in caring for the planet.

저희는 SARA Pye 박사님을 SCIPS에 초대하여 보육부터 8학년까지의 학생들과 함께 정말 감동적인 워크숍을 진행하게 되어 기뻤습니다. 하루 종일 우리 학생들은 말레이시아의 풍부하고 다양한 야생동물을 탐험하며 동물과 인간이 어떻게 연결되는지에 대한 강력한 이야기를 탐구하는 흥미로운 여정을 떠났습니다.
사라 박사는 놀라운 태양곰, 지적 오랑우탄, 호기심 많은 수염돼지 등 말레이시아에서 가장 상징적이고 멸종 위기에 처한 종들을 소개해 주었습니다. 학생들은 흥미로운 스토리텔링, 실제 경험, 생각을 자극하는 토론을 통해 이 동물들이 직면한 도전과 자연 서식지 보호의 중요성에 대해 배웠습니다.
이날의 하이라이트 중 하나는 사라 박사의 특별한 인형 동반자인 오랑우탄 퐁고를 만난 것이었습니다. 퐁고는 세션에 많은 유머와 따뜻함, 웃음을 선사했습니다! 그가 우리에게 재미있는 동물 소리를 내라고 하든 사라 박사에게 무언가를 잊었다고 말하든, 우리는 그를 만나는 것을 정말 좋아했습니다!
사라 박사의 방문은 우리 모두에게 우리 안에 있는 '마법'을 상기시켜 주었습니다. 그녀는 모든 개인이 자신만의 독특한 강점과 재능을 발휘하여 세상을 변화시킬 수 있다는 매우 간단하지만 강력한 메시지를 공유했습니다. 우리 학교 공동체가 지구를 돌보는 우리의 역할과 보존에 대해 더 깊이 생각하게 된 잊을 수 없는 경험이었습니다.
