Be An Armor-Bearer   병기 든 자가 되라  

이스라엘과 블레셋이 전쟁 중이었습니다.

The Israelites and the Philistines were at war.

사울이 자기 부하들과 석류나무 아래서 쉬고 있는 동안,

요나단과 그의 병기를 든 소년이 진지를 조용히 떠났습니다.

그들은 “여호와의 구원은 사람의 많고 적음에 달리지 아니하였다”라는 것을 믿고

여호와께서 그들을 위하여 일하시는 것을 보고자 하였습니다.

While Saul relaxed under a pomegranate tree with his men,

Jonathan and his armor-bearer left camp quietly

to see if the Lord would work on their behalf,

believing that

“nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few”.

요나단과 그의 조수가 두 개의 높은 절벽사이로 난 길을 막 가로질러 가려 했는데,

무장한 적군 병사들이 그들 위에 양쪽으로 진을 치고 있었습니다.

Jonathan and his helper were about to cross a path

between two high cliffs.

 Armed enemy soldiers were stationed above them on both sides.

아주 많은 숫자의 적군에 비하여 그들은 단 두 명이었지만,

요나단이 올라가서 그들을 치자고 하자 병기 든 자는 전혀 주저하지 않고 “

당신의 마음에 있는 대로 다 행하여 앞서 가소서 내가 당신과 마음을 같이 하여 따르리이다”

라고 말했습니다.

They were two men against who knows how many.

When Jonathan suggested they climb up after them,

the armor-bearer never flinched.

“Do all that is in your heart,” he told Jonathan.

“I am with you, according to your heart”.

그리하여 그 두 사람은 절벽을 기어 올라가 하나님의 도움으로 적군을 물리쳤습니다.

So the two climbed the cliff,

and with God’s help they overcame the enemy.

우리는 이 용감한 병기 든 소년을 보며 감탄해야 합니다.

We have to admire this courageous young armor-bearer.

그는 병기를 절벽 위로 끌고 올라가

요나단의 뒤를 따라가며 요나단이 상처를 입힌 적군들을 죽였습니다.

He lugged the armor up that cliff and stayed with Jonathan,

following along behind and killing those Jonathan wounded.

교회는 우리의 영적인 적군들에 맞서기 위해 강력한 지도자들이 필요합니다.

그러나 그들 혼자서만 적군을 맞서게 해서는 안 됩니다.

The church needs strong leaders to face our spiritual foes,

but they must not be left to face them alone.

그들에게는 모든 교인의 도움과 지원이 필요합니다.

“우리 영혼의 적”에 대항하여 기꺼이 싸우고자 하는

당신과 나 같은 충성된 “병기 든 자”의 도움이 필요합니다.

They need the help and support of everyone in the congregation

—loyal “armor-bearers” like you and me

who are willing to join them in battle

against the “enemy of our souls

1 Samuel 사무엘상 14:1-14  

[삼상] 14:1	하루는 사울의 아들 요나단이 자기의 무기를 든 소년에게 이르되 우리가 건너편 블레셋 사람들의 부대로 건너가자 하고 그의 아버지에게는 아뢰지 아니하였더라 One day Jonathan son of Saul said to the young man bearing his armor, "Come, let's go over to the Philistine outpost on the other side." But he did not tell his father.
[삼상] 14:2	사울이 기브아 변두리 미그론에 있는 석류나무 아래에 머물렀고 함께 한 백성은 육백 명 가량이며 Saul was staying on the outskirts of Gibeah under a pomegranate tree in Migron. With him were about six hundred men,
[삼상] 14:3	아히야는 에봇을 입고 거기 있었으니 그는 이가봇의 형제 아히둡의 아들이요 비느하스의 손자요 실로에서 여호와의 제사장이 되었던 엘리의 증손이었더라 백성은 요나단이 간 줄을 알지 못하니라 among whom was Ahijah, who was wearing an ephod. He was a son of Ichabod's brother Ahitub son of Phinehas, the son of Eli, the LORD'S priest in Shiloh. No one was aware that Jonathan had left.
[삼상] 14:4	요나단이 블레셋 사람들에게로 건너가려 하는 어귀 사이 이쪽에는 험한 바위가 있고 저쪽에도 험한 바위가 있는데 하나의 이름은 보세스요 하나의 이름은 세네라 On each side of the pass that Jonathan intended to cross to reach the Philistine outpost was a cliff; one was called Bozez, and the other Seneh.
[삼상] 14:5	한 바위는 북쪽에서 믹마스 앞에 일어섰고 하나는 남쪽에서 게바 앞에 일어섰더라 One cliff stood to the north toward Micmash, the other to the south toward Geba.
[삼상] 14:6	요나단이 자기의 무기를 든 소년에게 이르되 우리가 이 할례 받지 않은 자들에게로 건너가자 여호와께서 우리를 위하여 일하실까 하노라 여호와의 구원은 사람이 많고 적음에 달리지 아니하였느니라 Jonathan said to his young armor-bearer, "Come, let's go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised fellows. Perhaps the LORD will act in our behalf. Nothing can hinder the LORD from saving, whether by many or by few."
[삼상] 14:7	무기를 든 자가 그에게 이르되 당신의 마음에 있는 대로 다 행하여 앞서 가소서 내가 당신과 마음을 같이 하여 따르리이다 "Do all that you have in mind," his armor-bearer said. "Go ahead; I am with you heart and soul."
[삼상] 14:8	요나단이 이르되 보라 우리가 그 사람들에게로 건너가서 그들에게 보이리니 Jonathan said, "Come, then; we will cross over toward the men and let them see us.
[삼상] 14:9	그들이 만일 우리에게 이르기를 우리가 너희에게로 가기를 기다리라 하면 우리는 우리가 있는 곳에 가만히 서서 그들에게로 올라가지 말 것이요 If they say to us, 'Wait there until we come to you,' we will stay where we are and not go up to them.
[삼상] 14:10	그들이 만일 말하기를 우리에게로 올라오라 하면 우리가 올라갈 것은 여호와께서 그들을 우리 손에 넘기셨음이니 이것이 우리에게 표징이 되리라 하고 But if they say, 'Come up to us,' we will climb up, because that will be our sign that the LORD has given them into our hands."
[삼상] 14:11	둘이 다 블레셋 사람들에게 보이매 블레셋 사람이 이르되 보라 히브리 사람이 그들이 숨었던 구멍에서 나온다 하고 So both of them showed themselves to the Philistine outpost. "Look!" said the Philistines. "The Hebrews are crawling out of the holes they were hiding in."
[삼상] 14:12	그 부대 사람들이 요나단과 그의 무기를 든 자에게 이르되 우리에게로 올라오라 너희에게 보여 줄 것이 있느니라 한지라 요나단이 자기의 무기를 든 자에게 이르되 나를 따라 올라오라 여호와께서 그들을 이스라엘의 손에 넘기셨느니라 하고 The men of the outpost shouted to Jonathan and his armor-bearer, "Come up to us and we'll teach you a lesson." So Jonathan said to his armor-bearer, "Climb up after me; the LORD has given them into the hand of Israel."
[삼상] 14:13	요나단이 손 발로 기어 올라갔고 그 무기를 든 자도 따랐더라 블레셋 사람들이 요나단 앞에서 엎드러지매 무기를 든 자가 따라가며 죽였으니 Jonathan climbed up, using his hands and feet, with his armor-bearer right behind him. The Philistines fell before Jonathan, and his armor-bearer followed and killed behind him.
[삼상] 14:14	요나단과 그 무기를 든 자가 반나절 갈이 땅 안에서 처음으로 쳐죽인 자가 이십 명 가량이라 In that first attack Jonathan and his armor-bearer killed some twenty men in an area of about half an acre.

We give the help that pastors need For burdens they must bear When we entrust them to the Lord And hold them up in prayer. Leaders are their best when people get behind them.

우리가 목회자들을 주님께 의뢰하고 기도함으로 그들을 붙들어줄 때 우리는 그들이 져야만 하는 짐들을 줄이는데 필요한 도움을 주게 된다 지도자는 사람들이 그 뒤에서 협력할 때 최고의 모습을 나타낸다.
