Good morning everyone.  The Old Testament reading for our worship service Sunday will be Nehemiah 8:1-8 and the New Testament reading is Mark 6:1-6.  The text for my sermon is John 1:1-18 and the title of my sermon is “In the Beginning.”  English vocabulary: witness, concerning, overcome, darkness, recognize, dwelling, glory, testify, relationship. 여러분, 좋은 아침입니다. 이번 주일 예배에서 봉독할 구약성경 말씀은 느헤미야 8장 1절부터 8절까지이며, 신약성경 말씀은 마가복음 6장 1절부터 6절까지입니다. 제 설교 본문은 요한복음 1장 1절부터 18절까지이며, 설교 제목은 “태초에(In the Beginning)”입니다.

느헤미야 8장1~8절 

Nehemiah 8:1-8

1 이스라엘 자손이 자기들의 성읍에 거주하였더니 일곱째 달에 이르러 모든 백성이 일제히 수문 앞 광장에 모여 학사 에스라에게 여호와께서 이스라엘에게 명령하신 모세의 율법책을 가져오기를 청하매

all the people came together as one in the square before the Water Gate. They told Ezra the teacher of the Law to bring out the Book of the Law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded for Israel.

2 일곱째 달 초하루에 제사장 에스라가 율법책을 가지고 회중 앞 곧 남자나 여자나 알아들을 만한 모든 사람 앞에 이르러

So on the first day of the seventh month Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly, which was made up of men and women and all who were able to understand.

3 수문 앞 광장에서 새벽부터 정오까지 남자나 여자나 알아들을 만한 모든 사람 앞에서 읽으매 뭇 백성이 그 율법책에 귀를 기울였는데

He read it aloud from daybreak till noon as he faced the square before the Water Gate in the presence of the men, women and others who could understand. And all the people listened attentively to the Book of the Law.

4 그 때에 학사 에스라가 특별히 지은 나무 강단에 서고 그의 곁 오른쪽에 선 자는 맛디댜와 스마와 아나야와 우리야와 힐기야와 마아세야요 그의 왼쪽에 선 자는 브다야와 미사엘과 말기야와 하숨과 하스밧다나와 스가랴와 므술람이라

Ezra the teacher of the Law stood on a high wooden platform built for the occasion. Beside him on his right stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah and Maaseiah; and on his left were Pedaiah, Mishael, Malkijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah and Meshullam.

5 에스라가 모든 백성 위에 서서 그들 목전에 책을 펴니 책을 펼 때에 모든 백성이 일어서니라

Ezra opened the book. All the people could see him because he was standing above them; and as he opened it, the people all stood up.

6 에스라가 위대하신 하나님 여호와를 송축하매 모든 백성이 손을 들고 아멘 아멘 하고 응답하고 몸을 굽혀 얼굴을 땅에 대고 여호와께 경배하니라

Ezra praised the LORD, the great God; and all the people lifted their hands and responded, “Amen! Amen!” Then they bowed down and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground.

7 예수아와 바니와 세레뱌와 야민과 악굽과 사브대와 호디야와 마아세야와 그리다와 아사랴와 요사밧과 하난과 블라야와 레위 사람들은 백성이 제자리에 서 있는 동안 그들에게 율법을 깨닫게 하였는데

The Levites—Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan and Pelaiah—instructed the people in the Law while the people were standing there.

8 하나님의 율법책을 낭독하고 그 뜻을 해석하여 백성에게 그 낭독하는 것을 다 깨닫게 하니

They read from the Book of the Law of God, making it clear and giving the meaning so that the people understood what was being read.

마가복음 6장1~6절

Mark 6:1-6

1 예수께서 거기를 떠나사 고향으로 가시니 제자들도 따르니라

Jesus left there and went to his hometown, accompanied by his disciples.

2 안식일이 되어 회당에서 가르치시니 많은 사람이 듣고 놀라 이르되 이 사람이 어디서 이런 것을 얻었느냐 이 사람이 받은 지혜와 그 손으로 이루어지는 이런 권능이 어찌됨이냐

When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were amazed. “Where did this man get these things?” they asked. “Whatʼs this wisdom that has been given him? What are these remarkable miracles he is performing?

3 이 사람이 마리아의 아들 목수가 아니냐 야고보와 요셉과 유다와 시몬의 형제가 아니냐 그 누이들이 우리와 함께 여기 있지 아니하냐 하고 예수를 배척한지라

Isnʼt this the carpenter? Isnʼt this Maryʼs son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Arenʼt his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.

4 예수께서 그들에게 이르시되 선지자가 자기 고향과 자기 친척과 자기 집 외에서는 존경을 받지 못함이 없느니라 하시며

Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.”

5 거기서는 아무 권능도 행하실 수 없어 다만 소수의 병자에게 안수하여 고치실 뿐이었고

He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them.

6 그들이 믿지 않음을 이상히 여기셨더라 ○이에 모든 촌에 두루 다니시며 가르치시더라

He was amazed at their lack of faith. Then Jesus went around teaching from village to village.

요한복음 1장1~18절 

John 1:1-18

1 태초에 말씀이 계시니라 이 말씀이 하나님과 함께 계셨으니 이 말씀은 곧 하나님이시니라

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 그가 태초에 하나님과 함께 계셨고

He was with God in the beginning.

3 만물이 그로 말미암아 지은 바 되었으니 지은 것이 하나도 그가 없이는 된 것이 없느니라

Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

4 그 안에 생명이 있었으니 이 생명은 사람들의 빛이라

In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.

5 빛이 어둠에 비치되 어둠이 깨닫지 못하더라

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

6 하나님께로부터 보내심을 받은 사람이 있으니 그의 이름은 요한이라

There was a man sent from God whose name was John.

7 그가 증언하러 왔으니 곧 빛에 대하여 증언하고 모든 사람이 자기로 말미암아 믿게 하려 함이라

He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe.

8 그는 이 빛이 아니요 이 빛에 대하여 증언하러 온 자라

He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.

9 참 빛 곧 세상에 와서 각 사람에게 비추는 빛이 있었나니

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.

10 그가 세상에 계셨으며 세상은 그로 말미암아 지은 바 되었으되 세상이 그를 알지 못하였고

He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.

11 자기 땅에 오매 자기 백성이 영접하지 아니하였으나

He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.

12 영접하는 자 곧 그 이름을 믿는 자들에게는 하나님의 자녀가 되는 권세를 주셨으니

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—

13 이는 혈통으로나 육정으로나 사람의 뜻으로 나지 아니하고 오직 하나님께로부터 난 자들이니라

children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husbandʼs will, but born of God.

14 말씀이 육신이 되어 우리 가운데 거하시매 우리가 그의 영광을 보니 아버지의 독생자의 영광이요 은혜와 진리가 충만하더라

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

15 요한이 그에 대하여 증언하여 외쳐 이르되 내가 전에 말하기를 내 뒤에 오시는 이가 나보다 앞선 것은 나보다 먼저 계심이라 한 것이 이 사람을 가리킴이라 하니라

(John testified concerning him. He cried out, saying, “This is the one I spoke about when I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’ ”)

16 우리가 다 그의 충만한 데서 받으니 은혜 위에 은혜러라

Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given.

17 율법은 모세로 말미암아 주어진 것이요 은혜와 진리는 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 온 것이라

For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

18 본래 하나님을 본 사람이 없으되 아버지 품 속에 있는 독생하신 하나님이 나타내셨느니라

No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.
