This book talked a lot about knowledge. Knowledge comes from reading, studying, and parents.
Knowledge comes from reading. The author states the importance of reading. The author talks about a college student who went to a college gaming club. There he only slept about 4 hours to play Starcraft. His club activity was higher than his actual school studies. He went to the military to serve his period. One day he was cleaning and he noticed a soldier reading secretly. Then he realized the importance of reading and he has been playing too much. Starting that day he began starting to read. After he came out, he even started to read so much he even bought $830 (한국돈으로 100만원) worth of books. He began to realize the importance of reading and what he does best. I think I should have to read more. Reading can help you find who you are. Your hobby should be reading. If reading is fun then life would be easier. Everyone needs to read. Even leaders were readers. “Not all readers are leaders but all leaders are readers.” (Harry S. Truman)
Knowledge comes from studying. The author continues to state that not everyone needs a diploma to work. If you find your way or what you want to be that doesn’t require a college, then you don’t need to go. I agree with this. Why waste 4 years when you can go directly do your dream? Some people think that going to college is a must. I can understand people who don’t want to go to college if they don’t need to for their future dream. So, I want to tell students later on, in your middle and high school years, you should find what is best for you. If you set a destination you can reach that doesn’t require college then you don’t have to waste time getting into a college. If people don’t want to go to college because they’re lazy, then I cannot agree with their choice. “Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31. We should think hard about what we should become If we need to go to college for our destination, then we should study hard. “It’s not just learning that’s important. It’s learning what to do with what you learn and learning why you learn things that matters.” (Norton Juster)
Knowledge comes from parents. Parents might be a pest to others. But they simply aren’t. They are helping you with your future. This book talks about how parents are here to help us become adults. It keeps talking about how parents teach us about life. There was a 6th grader. He really enjoyed school. But, when he went up to middle school, he didn’t like school, didn’t do homework, did poorly on tests. Then one day his father bought him an Apple computer. His dad told him to do what he wanted. He later told him to drop out of school and choose the way he wanted and to study by himself. He became a computer programmer. Parents always are here to help you. “Parents aren’t the people you come from. They’re the people you want to be, when you grow up” (Jodi Picoult)
So even learning things are hard, we are learning knowledge. Reading, studying, and parents help us with our knowledge to get stronger and become wiser.
I really enjoyed this book because it talked about knowledge and how I should think about my future. I want to recommend this book for middle and high school students, for students thinking about their future, and for parents. Middle and high school students need to think about their future. Students thinking about their future, this book will actually make them think, “Do I really need a college degree?” Parents should read this book to help their children with these choices.
