I woke up in the middle of the night
It wasn’t loud
but the sound of the rain
falling in a steady rhythm
made me open my eyes
I closed my eyes again
As I thought about
unseen view outside the window
I pulled the blanket over my head
after this rain stops
summer will be gone
It will make me strike up
a whisper with New Yorker
in Manhattan
and smile at those I don’t like—
Dostoevsky’s teardrops
Loneliness of pains—
a lament that A gift
I’d like to give to neighbors
who still loves me
unhappy musings of a healthy
human being
My imagination runs wild
Your tonight visit which proves
beauty of the imagining
it is passing by
I savor your flowing lullaby
At this rate
it’ll be over before dawn.
