51% of KazBuild Spring 2006 Exhibitors and 36% of KazRealty 2006 Exhibitors Signed Contracts During the Exhibition

Official opening of two new springtime exhibitions, KazBuild Spring 2006 and KazRealty 2006, at one and the same time, has de facto contributed to the list of construction events in Kazakhstan. Participants of these events included about 300 companies from 23 countries. The three exhibition days were attended by 9,107 specialists

On 9 March, the 2006 exhibition season opened in Almaty: two exhibitions began their work at the same time: KazBuild Spring 2006 and KazRealty 2006.

The Kazakhstan International Spring Exhibition of Construction and Interiors, Heating and Ventilation KazBuild Spring 2006 is a spring project of the biggest construction forum in Central Asia and Kazakhstan. About 250 companies from 20 countries exhibited at KazBuild Spring 2006: Austria, Belarus, Belgium, China, the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Turkey, the U.A.E., and Ukraine. The total exhibition area was about 7,000 sq. m. The exhibition took place in three pavilions of the Atakent Exhibition Centre (9a, 9b and 9c) and an outside exhibition facility.

Pavilion 10 hosted the Kazakhstan International Real Estate Exhibition KazRealty 2006. About 50 companies from 6 countries took part therein: Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Russia, Spain, the U.A.E., and the United States. Both exhibitions worked from 9 through 11 March.

The exhibitions were opened by Vitaliy V. KOKOYEV, General Director, State Extradepartmental Project Expertise at the Committee for Construction, Housing and Utilities of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Ishimbai D. KADYRBEKOV, Director, State Agency for Architecture and Construction at the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic; Yerlan S. KOZHASBAI, Vice President, Republic of Kazakhstan’s Chamber of Commerce; Akmurza I. RUSTEMBEKOV, President, Republic of Kazakhstan’s Union of Architects; Serik I. RUSTAMBEKOV, Vice President, International Association of the C.I.S. Unions of Architects, President of the Astana City Union of Architects; Yegor I. PUZHANOV, President, National Association of Realtors; Kalyk A. ABDULLAYEV, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Atakent Exhibition Centre; Edward STRACHAN, ITE Group Plc Country Director for the C.I.S.; Yuri BORODIKHIN, Executive Director, Iteca LLP; Ambassadors - Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and trade representatives from Germany, Lithuania, Malaysia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine, etc. Other representatives of diplomatic missions and mass media also attended the opening ceremony.

“For many companies which take part in the new exhibitions, Kazakhstan is a new country, which is yet another strong evidence of the interest foreign partners are showing in the country’s construction industry,” emphasised Edward Strachan, ITE Group Plc Country Director for the C.I.S. “I am happy to see the opening of the exhibition season in Kazakhstan augmented with these two new projects. Holding KazBuild in spring and autumn reflects a real interest in the Kazakhstani market. More and more of our clients worldwide want to come and present their brand-new items in Kazakhstan, at Kaz Build. It was thanks to Kaz Build Spring 2006 and KazRealty 2006 that Iteca opened the exhibition season six weeks earlier than usual. KazRealty 2006 is the first event devoted to real estate in ITE’s portfolio, and I think it is the best undertaking of recent years. I would like to extend my special thanks to the Committee for Housing and Utilities, Almaty City Akimat and organisations which have provided support for our construction exhibition projects for 13 years”. Statistics provided by Vitaliy Kokoyev, General Director of the State Extradepartmental Project Expertise, at the opening ceremony proved to be a solid evidence to that. In 2005, the construction industry used 2 trillion 200 million tenge of investment. The amount of construction and assembling operations was 982.5 billion tenge, or three times more than in 2004. 43,000 apartments were built under the State Housing Programme. Speaking at the exhibitions opening ceremony, Mr. Kokoyev also said that holding the construction exhibition two times a year resulted from a continuous qualitative and quantitative development of the industry in Kazakhstan.

Great weather, dances of charming girls and succulent national music became a pleasant emotional background for the guests and exhibitors. Exhibitors of KazRealty 2006 include Kazakhstan’s major construction companies (ElitStroi, Bazis-A, TS Engineering, Silk Way Construction, ZhSK VEK, Sat Zhol, DomStroi, and Bi-Media), real estate companies, commercial banks and other stakeholders of the real estate market. They represent the best examples of newly-built, secondary housing, elitist, suburban and commercial real estate of the 2006-2007 season, the latest developments in the real estate business, credit, insurance and development systems, eval‎uation, etc. The distinctive feature of the event is concentration of complete and detailed information about different real estate market segments on one platform (Astana, Almaty and other regions), as well as that of foreign countries.

“Kaz Build Spring 2006 keeps on the traditions of Central Asia’s biggest exhibition, KazBuild: the concept remains the same. The exhibition will be of a special interest for professional visitors – more than half of the exhibition is occupied by manufacturers of building materials. Naturally, the international exhibition will draw a good deal of attention from developers from Almaty and Astana. A new city is being built in the capital, whereas Almaty has a new incentive to develop this sector – the 2011 Winter Asian Games,” said Nailya Sermukhamedova, Director of the Construction Exhibitions Department, Iteca LLP, at a press conference on 6 March. “However, the construction exhibition will be interesting not only to professionals but also to common citizens. Famous Kazakhstani designers and architects will consult anyone on repairs and reconstruction of apartments and offices right on site”. The confidence of Nailya Sermukhamedova, who spoke at the press conference held three days prior to the exhibition, proved to be justified.

This was confirmed by the unrelenting public attention in the exhibitors and their products. The work of the exhibitions included numerous workshops, presentations and master classes, where everyone – professionals and just inquisitive persons – could get useful information. Other events included review presentations All Real Estate of Kazakhstan and Real Estate in Spain, presentation of a comprehensive design programme on changing the architectural and artistic environment in Almaty. Everyone was able to get available and understandable information about peculiarities of real estate and property insurance. Specialists provided those who wanted to make a career in the real estate market with the basics of professional training for realtors and mortgage brokers. A poll of exhibiting companies and visitors to the exhibitions showed that many of them presented brand-new items and found their clients: signed contracts and found business partners.

For example, Irina Purik, Development Director, StroiKomplekt GC, says, “It is not our first year at Iteca exhibitions and we believe the spring exhibition is a very successful undertaking by the organisers. We present a new item at KazBuild Spring – floor topping. Last winter (in mid-December), we commissioned a plant in Karaganda to produce commercial and semi-commercial linoleum. The total area of the plant is 28,000 sq. m. It is equipped by Knobel, a German firm, with the latest technologies utilised. Regarding production facilities, we hold the fifth place in the C.I.S. Participation in the spring exhibition allows us to present our products virtually off the production line. Our stand had been visited by a significant number of visitors, and we anticipate good results”. Dina Suleimenova, Kaiser Engineering: “Our company is a new player in the market. We present entrance doors and Biffar windows of the true German quality and with various intrusion protection levels. We tested the strength of our doors at the exhibition: we mauled it and drilled it, and our specialists forced the locks… and everything was okay. The door bent a little, but the lock was opened with a key. This action drew a lot of real interest. I think our outreach to the market was excellent thanks to the exhibition. We already have a good number of orders from individuals to install our doors and windows in elite cottages”.

Roza Nurzhanova, Manager, SkyLandRealty: “I have worked in the U.A.E. for a long time – in the real estate market. The Kazakhstanis’ interest in real estate abroad is growing every year. Participation in KazRealty was yet another confirmation to that. By the way, we found a realtor right during the exhibition who is going to be an official dealer of our company in Kazakhstan. We are happy with out participation in the exhibition. A number of companies and individuals have already signed protocols of intention”.

Sulan Ibraimov, visitor: “I represent a design and construction company from Kyrgyzstan. I have specially come to the exhibition and spent two days to go around all of its exhibitors. I am satisfied – everything is logical and well-organised. I liked brand-new items by Alina most of all. This company also works in Kyrgyzstan. It was a pleasant surprise for me that the prices were almost the same”.

Anvar Kurmagambetov, visitor: “A very good exhibition. I am a frequent visitor to construction exhibitions and follow all new items. What is especially good is the appearance of domestic manufacturers of building materials, and notably, their quality is as good as that of foreign-made items”.

Alla Dovedyuk, AlmatyGorStroi, visitor: “Our company does direct construction, so this exhibition is our profile. I did my best to communicate with many exhibitors. I have therefore been working at the exhibition for two days. We find new materials, and have found realtors for sales of our real estate… It is actually very convenient when two of such allied exhibitions are held on the same dates. We also learned about new finishing materials and signed a contract with a realtor. We are utterly satisfied”.

The new section of the exhibition, Consultations from Designers, was very popular with the visitors of Kaz Build Spring. Anyone could get a consultation about how and in which style to decorate one’s housing – from classics to hi-tech. Today, when the construction industry offers a rich selection of materials, this service has become really handy. Consultations were held daily and at no charge for anyone. The Consultations from Designers project is implemented by the event organisers jointly with the editors of the Doma i Interyery magazine (Kazakhstan).

Kaz Build Spring 2006 Fact Sheet:
• 51% of exhibitors signed contracts during the exhibition;
• 91% of exhibitors said the visitors’ specialisation met their expectations;
• 40% of participants plan to get feedback from the exhibition within the next 1-3 months;
• 32% of exhibitors pointed out in their questionnaires that their stand was visited by 100 to 500 specialists daily, 24% pointed out 50 to 100 specialists, and 9% – more than 500 specialists;
• 6,191 specialists visited KazBuild Spring 2006 during three days;
• 65% of visitors confirmed they were planning to come to the next year’s exhibition.

Kaz Realty 2006 Fact Sheet:
• 86% of exhibitors said the visitors’ specialisation met their expectations;
• 36% of exhibitors signed contracts during the exhibition;
• 86% of participants plan to get feedback from the exhibition within the next 1-3 months;
• 59% of exhibitors pointed out in their questionnaires that their stand was visited by 10 to 50 specialists daily, 14% pointed out 50 to 100 specialists. Notably, 9% of exhibitors told about their products and services to more than 500 specialists daily;
• 2,916 specialists visited KazRealty during three days;
• 78% of visitors confirmed they were planning to come to the next year’s exhibition.
