3. 개척자로서의 사명 - 3

따라가는 사람은 개척자가 아닙니다. 개척자라는 것은 선두에 선 사람을 말하는 것입니다. 역사를 이어받아 가지고 숭상하면서 가는 사람은 개척자가 아닙니다. 그렇지요? 역사가 없는 자리에서 역사를 창건해 나가는 사람이 개척자입니다. 그렇기 때문에 배울 수 있는 동기를 지니고 간다고 하는 사람은 개척자라고 할 수 없습니다. 그런 사람은 따라가는 사람이요, 본받고 가는 사람입니다. 

개척자는 역사가 없는 것입니다. 방향을 모르는 것입니다. 자기 자체가 역사요, 방향입니다. 자기가 그릇된 역사의 인연에 결부되게 되면 그 자신은 자연적으로 파탄되는 것이요, 방향이 잘못되어도 그 자신은 산산조각이 나서 그 생명의 밑바탕도 건질 수 없을 만큼 파탄이 되는 것입니다. 

그렇기 때문에 개척자에게 신앙길이 있다면 그 신앙길은 절대적인 신앙길일 것입니다. 물에 빠진 사람은 살 길을 찾기 위해 검불도 구원의 줄로 잡으려고 하는 것입니다.

개척자에게는 역사도 없고, 무엇을 본받을 것도 없습니다. 자기 자체가 역사요, 실체이며, 자기 자체가 승패의 결정을 마련해야 할 입장이니 얼마나 심각하겠느냐는 것입니다. 개척자에게는 그런 길이 있는 것입니다. (45-316) 

가나안 복지를 향해 걸어가는 40년 광야노정에 있어서 나날이 지나가는 세월과 더불어 흘러가선 안 됩니다. 새로운 날을 준비해 가지고 전진하는 무리가 되지 못하면 광야에서 독수리 밥이 되는 것입니다. 우리는 역사적 개척자라는 사실을 알아야 됩니다. 개척자는 어려운 환경을 뚫고 나가 내일을 향한 소망 앞에 준비태세를 갖추어야 합니다. (1986.5.6)

3. 開拓者としての牧会者 - 3

従っていく人は開拓者ではありません。開拓者というものは、先頭に立つ人をいうのです。歴史を引き継いであがめながら行く人は開拓者ではありません。そうでしょう？　歴史がない場で、歴史を創建していく人が開拓者です。ですから、学ぼうという動機をもっていく人は、開拓者だと言うことができません。そのような人は、ついていく人であり、まねていく人です。

開拓者には、歴史がないのです。決まった方向がないのです。自分自身が歴史であり、方向です。自分が誤った歴史の因縁に結び付けられるようになれば自分自身は自然に破綻し、方向が間違っても自分自身は木っ端微塵となり、その生命の本質も救い難いほど破綻してしまうのです。
　
ですから、開拓者に信仰の道があったなら、その信仰の道は絶対的な信仰の道なのです。水に溺れた人は助かる道を求めて、藁をも救いの綱としてつかもうとするのです。

開拓者には、ついていく歴史もなく、見倣う見本もありません。自分自身が歴史であり、実体であり、自分自身が勝敗の決定を備えなければならない立場であるので、どれほど深刻かということです。開拓者とは、そのような道を行くのです。（四五・三一六）

カナン福地に向かって歩んでいく四十年荒野路程において、日々過ぎていく歳月と共に、一緒に流されていってはいけません。新しい日を準備して前進する群れとならなければ、荒野で鷹の餌になってしまうのです。私たちは、歴史的開拓者だという事実を知らなければなりません。開拓者は困難な環境を切り抜けていき、あすに向かう希望の前に準備の態勢を備えなければなりません。（一九八六・五・六）

3. The Life Of A Pioneer - 3

The person who follows is not a pioneer. To be a pioneer is to stand in the lead. A person who inherits and idolizes history is not a pioneer. Isn't that true? In a place where there is no history, the person who establishes it is a pioneer. Therefore, a person who carries with him all the motives he has learned cannot be a pioneer. That is a person who follows. He is a person who lives copying a pattern.

A pioneer has no history. He doesn't know the direction. He is his own history and direction. If it happens that he becomes linked with our history which has gone wrong, then he naturally becomes a failure, and if he goes in the wrong direction, because he himself has gone to bits and pieces, he will fail because he is now unable to bring out the essence of his life.

Because of this, if the pioneer has a life of faith, it must be an absolute life of faith. When a person is drowning, to find a way to live, he grabs onto the fallen leaves as a source of salvation.

The pioneer has no history, and there is no example for him to follow. He himself is history, as a substantiation, he must ponder the seriousness of his position of choosing between victory and defeat. That is the path of the pioneer. (45-316)

Because we are in the course of wilderness heading for the promised land of Canaan, we cannot drift along day by day with the passing months. If we are not focussed on preparation for the next day's advance forward, then here in the wilderness we will become food for the vultures. You must know that we are historical pioneers. The pioneer must break through difficult surroundings and have the attitude of preparation to head in the direction of hope tomorrow. (1986.5.6)
