1 Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling,

for you have been called by God.

1 Therefore 그런 고로 I 나는, a prisoner 포로인데 for serving 섬기기 위한 the Lord 주님을, beg 간청한다 you 너희가

to lead 이끌기를 a life 삶을 worthy 가치 있는 of your calling 너희 소명에, 

for 왜냐면 you 너희는 have been called 불림을 받았기에 by God 하나님에 의해.

2 Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, 

making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.

3 Make every effort /to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.

4 For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future.

* 현재 완료와 단순 과거의 의미 차이

현재 완료는 과거일 처럼 이미 끝난 일이지만 그 결과로써의 영향은 현제에도 지속된다는 뉘앙스가 있기에

부름을 받은 영향/결과에 초점이 있으나 과거는 단순히 과거에 된 일이다는 의미다 

5 There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

5 There is 존재한다 one Lord 한 분 주님께서, one faith 한 믿음이, one baptism 한 세례가,

* 존재 표현으로 쓰이는 관용어 there is/are/was 등

  There is a car. 자동차가 존재한다 (비교 ; A care is there. 차가 거기라는 장소에 있다에서 there는 부사)

6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all.

6 one God 한 분 하나님과 and Father of all 모든 사람의 아버지,

who 그분은 is 계신다 over all 모든 것 위에, in all 모든 것 안에, and living 사신다 through all 모든 걸 통해서.

7 However, he has given [ each one of us] [a special gift] through the generosity of Christ.

8 That is why the Scriptures say, 

“When he ascended /to the heights, he led a crowd of captives and gave gifts to his people.”

9 Notice that it says “he ascended.” This clearly means that Christ also descended /to our lowly world.

9 Notice 인식하라 that절 내용을 즉 it 그 성경이 says 말하기를 “he 그분께서는 ascended 승천하셨다는 것을.”

This 이 것은/이 내용은 clearly 명백하게 means 의미한다 that절 내용을 즉 Christ 그리스도께서 also 역시

descended 하강하셨다는 걸 to our lowly world 우리의 낮은 세상에.

* 명사절 접속사인 that

* 앞 절에 언급된 내용을 대신하는 지시 대명사인 this

10 And [the same one //who descended] is [the one //who ascended higher than all the heavens], 

so that he might fill the entire universe with himself.

10 And [the same one 똑같은 그 한분 who descended 하강하신] is 이시다 the one 똑같은 그 한분 who ascended 승천하신

higher 더 높게 than all the heavens 다른 모든 하늘들/우주 보다도,

11 Now these are the gifts () Christ gave to the church:

the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, 

and the pastors and teachers.

11 Now 이제 these 이런 것들이 are이다 the gifts 선물들 (that) 그건 Christ 그리스도께서 gave 주신 to the church 교회에게:

 the apostles 사도들과, the prophets 선지자들과, the evangelists 선교사들과,

 and the pastors 목회자와 and teachers 선생들이다.

* 보어인 명사구 the gifts () Christ gave to the church

12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.

his work 그분의 일을 and build up 세워주기이다 the church 교회를, the body of Christ 그리스도의 지체인.

의무적으로 하는 일이지만 자발적/능동적/주체적으로 하며 행위의 정당/타당성/결과에 대한 추궁을 감수함

* 비교 ; DUTY 의무 ; 도리상 해야 하는 일이므로 수동적으로 할 수도 있음

         1 : something that is done as part of a job;

         2 : something that you must do because it is morally right or because the law requires it.

* 보어인 부정사구의 동격 관계

to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church 5 형식 구조

1.  to equip  and (to) build up 주어인 사도들이 준비시키고 육성해 나가는 주체가 됨

2.  to do and (to) build up 하나님의 사람들/성도들이 하나님의 일을 하고 교회를 육성해 나가는 주체가 되나

문맥상 2번이 맞는다

13 This will continue /until we all come /to such unity /in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son

that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.

13 This 이것은 will continue 계속될 것이다 until 그때까지 we all 우리 모두가 come 올 때 to such unity 그런 연합에

in our faith 우리의 믿음과 and knowledge 지식에서 of God’s Son 성자 하나님께 관한 that 그래서 we 우리가

* 형역 분사구  measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. 현분사의 능동 주체인 we 수식 

* measure up (to someone or something) ;

1. to have necessary or fitting qualifications 2. to be the equal (as in ability) —used with to. 필적하는, 적당한 자격이 되는

삽입구로 쓰인 분사구는 주어 수식이므로 본동작과 동시 동작 상태 설명이고

또한 현분사의 능동적인 상태 설명이기에

주어가 성숙해짐과 동시에 그리스도의 표준에 충분히 좋게 비교도 된다

의역하면 그리스도의 표준에 잘 비교하면서 성숙해진다

* NIV 번역 attaining 도달하며 to the whole measure 온전한 표준치에 of the fullness of Christ 그리스도의 충만함의.

14 Then we will no longer be immature like children. 

We won’t be tossed and blown about /by every wind of new teaching. 

We will not be influenced /when people try [to trick us with lies /so clever () they sound like the truth].

14 Then 그러면 we 우린 will no longer 더 이상 be immature 미숙한 상태가 아닐 것이다 like children 어린이들처럼. 

We 우린 won’t be tossed 튕겨지고 and blown about 이리저리 불려 다니지 않을/허우적거리지 않을 것이다

by every wind 모든 바람/풍파로 of new teaching 새로운 가르침/사조로. 

We 우린 will not be influenced 영향받지 않을 것이다

when 그때 people 사람들이 try 시도할 때 to trick 속이기를 us 우리를 with lies 거짓말들로

so clever 너무나 영악해서 (that) 그 결과로 they 그 거짓말들이 sound 들리는 like the truth 진실/진리처럼.

* no longer ; not now as formerly.

* about ;  All around; on every side: 사방으로

* be tossed and blown ; to be left floundering. exp. to be left in a state of confusion or uncertainty. 허우적거리다

* 목적인 부정사구 to trick us with lies so clever (that) they sound like the truth

* they = lies

* so~ that~ 너무 ~해서 ~하다

15 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way /more and more like Christ, 

who is the head of his body, the church.

growing 자라 가며 in every way 모든 방면에서 more and more 더욱더 like Christ 그리스도처럼,

16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. 

As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, 

so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

As each part 각각의 부분이 does 하면서 its own special work 그것 자체의 특별한 일을,

17 With the Lord’s authority I say this:

Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused.

 Live 살지 마라/no longer 더 이상 /as 마치 the Gentiles 이방인들이 do 사는 것처럼,

18 Their minds are full of darkness; 

they wander far from the life () God gives 

because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts /against him.

19 They have [no sense of shame]. 

They live /for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice [every kind of impurity].

하나님께서는 우리가 진짜로 성자 하나님처럼 되길 원하신다는 말씀이기 때문인데

사실상 우리는 마귀식 신노름 즉 가짜 하나님처럼 노는 것이 현실인 것을 모른다면

신처럼 된다는 말을 바리새인들처럼 신성모독으로 치부하든지

(하나님을 아버지라 부르는 것은 자신을 신격화하는 것과 매일반이다)

독실한 종교인들처럼 세상을 초월한 인간 성인/성자가 되는 정도로 가정/가감할 것이 자명하다

25 So stop telling lies. Let us tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same body.

25 So 그러므로 stop 멈추어라 telling 말하기를 lies 거짓말을.

Let 하게 하라 us 우리가 tell 말하기를 our neighbors 우리 이웃에게 the truth 진실/사실/진리를,

for 왜냐면 we are all 우리 모두는 parts 부분이기에 of the same body 같은 지체의.

26 And “don’t sin /by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry,

27 for anger gives a foothold /to the devil.

29 Don’t use [foul or abusive language]. 

Let [everything () you say] [be good and helpful], 

so that your words will be an encouragement /to those //who hear them.

31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior.

32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another,

 just as God through Christ has forgiven you.
