십대 시절 나는 아빠와 함께 사냥과 낚시 여행을 많이 다녔습니다.

When I was a teenager,

my dad and I went on many hunting and fishing trips together.

대부분은 행복한 추억이었지만 한번은 낚시 여행에서 참사가 일어날 뻔했습니다.

Most became happy memories,

butone fishing expedition was nearly a disaster.

우리는 높은 산위까지 차를 타고 올라가 외진 곳에 텐트를 쳤습니다.

We drove up into a high mountain range and

set up camp in a remote area.

그리고는 아빠와 나는 시냇가로 고기를 잡으러 힘들여 산 아래로 내려갔습니다.

Then Dad and I trudged a long way down the mountain

to get to a stream to fish.

뜨거운 햇볕아래서 하루 종일 낚시를 하다 보니 텐트로 돌아갈 시간이 되었습니다.

After a long day fishing in the hot sun,

it was time to return to camp.

우리가 되돌아가기 시작했는데 갑자기 아빠의 얼굴이 창백하게 변했습니다.

But as we began to head back,

Dad’s face grew pale.

아빠는 어지러워하며 구역질을 했고 거의 탈진상태가 되어 있었습니다.

He was dizzy and nauseated,

and he had almost no strength.

당황하지 않으려 애를 쓰며 나는 아빠를 앉히고 물을 마시게 했습니다.

Trying not to panic,

I had him sit down and drink liquids.

그런 후에 나는 큰 소리로 하나님께 도와달라고 기도를 했습니다.

Then I prayed aloud to God for help.

기도와 휴식. 그리고 영양을 섭취한 후 아빠는 좀 나아졌고,

우리는 천천히 산 위로 다시 오르기 시작했습니다.

Bolstered by prayer, rest, and nourishment,

Dad improved,

and we began to go slowly back up the mountain.

아빠는 내가 야영지가 있는 산 위로 앞서 걸어 올라가는 동안

느슨하게 맨 나의 허리띠를 붙잡고 따라 올라왔습니다.

He held on to my loosened belt as I crawled upward

leading the way back to camp.

우리는 때때로 절망의 계곡에서

더 이상 발걸음을 내디딜 힘이 없다고 느껴지는 상황에 처할 때가 있습니다.

Sometimes we fin-d ourselves in what feels like a hopeless valley

without the strength to go on.

그런 일이 발생하면 하나님의 약속의 말씀을 기억해야합니다.

When this happens,

it’s important to recall God’s promise:

“피곤한 자에게는 능력을 주시며 무능한 자에게는 힘을 더하시나니”(사 40:29).

“He gives power to the weak,

and to those who have no might He increases strength”.

기진맥진해졌습니까? 지쳤습니까?

하나님께 도움을 구하십시오.

Do you feel drained? Exhausted?

계속 전진할 수 있는 힘과 질곡으로부터 벗어날 수 있는 능력을 주십사고

그분께 매달리십시오.

Ask God for help. Depend on Him for the power to go on and the strength to make it through the valley

Isaiah 이사야 40:25-31  

[사] 40:25	거룩하신 이가 이르시되 그런즉 너희가 나를 누구에게 비교하여 나를 그와 동등하게 하겠느냐 하시니라 "To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?" says the Holy One.
[사] 40:26	너희는 눈을 높이 들어 누가 이 모든 것을 창조하였나 보라 주께서는 수효대로 만상을 이끌어 내시고 그들의 모든 이름을 부르시나니 그의 권세가 크고 그의 능력이 강하므로 하나도 빠짐이 없느니라 Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.
[사] 40:27	야곱아 어찌하여 네가 말하며 이스라엘아 네가 이르기를 내 길은 여호와께 숨겨졌으며 내 송사는 내 하나님에게서 벗어난다 하느냐 Why do you say, O Jacob, and complain, O Israel, "My way is hidden from the LORD; my cause is disregarded by my God"?
[사] 40:28	너는 알지 못하였느냐 듣지 못하였느냐 영원하신 하나님 여호와, 땅 끝까지 창조하신 이는 피곤하지 않으시며 곤비하지 않으시며 명철이 한이 없으시며 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
[사] 40:29	피곤한 자에게는 능력을 주시며 무능한 자에게는 힘을 더하시나니 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
[사] 40:30	소년이라도 피곤하며 곤비하며 장정이라도 넘어지며 쓰러지되 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
[사] 40:31	오직 여호와를 앙망하는 자는 새 힘을 얻으리니 독수리가 날개치며 올라감 같을 것이요 달음박질하여도 곤비하지 아니하겠고 걸어가도 피곤하지 아니하리로다 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

When circumstances overwhelm And seem too much to bear, Depend upon the Lord for strength And trust His tender care. When we have nothing left but God, we discover that God is enough.

힘든 상황이 몰려와서 더 이상 견딜 수가 없다고 느낄 때 힘주시는 주님께 의지하고 친절히 보살펴 주실 것을 믿으십시오 하나님 외에 어떤 희망도 없을 때 우리는 하나님 한분이면 충분하다는 것을 알게 된다.

When we have nothing left but God,
we discover that God is enough.
