study the past.

허영심이 강한 인간은 오만하며
실제로는 모두에게 골칫거리임에도 불구하고
만인이 자신에게 호감을 느낀다고
착각하기 마련이다.

자만은 스스로를 정당화함으로써

인간에게 혀를 다스리는 일보다
어려운 일이 없고, 말보다 욕망을 더 잘

Fame has also this great drawback,

명성에는 이런 큰 단점도 있는바,
바로 우리가 명성을 쫓을수록 다른 이들의
비위를 맞추는데 우리 인생의
상당부분을 할애해야 한다는 것이다.
