“The Spirit has given us life; he must also control our lives.” (Galatians 5:25 GNT)

No one is going to change by making promises to God—by saying, “I was fooling around before, but now I’m going to be [what I’m supposed to be]. I give you my word, God.”  What does that accomplish?  You can pledge to read more of the Word, to pray without ceasing, to give your all to Christ.  Lots of luck! 

Nobody changes that way!  In fact, that has nothing to do with Christianity.  Instead, that has to do with the law of Moses, who came down from the mountain and showed the people the law; to which they said, “[Everything

() God has said] we will do,” only to break it 72 hours later.  And so will you; and so will I.

Now the law has its purpose, which is to make people realize the guilt of their sin.  But once the law has done its work, we must move on.  Don’t let anyone place needless burdens on you, and don’t you yourself place such burdens on anyone else. 

Christianity is not saying to God that you’re going to do anything.

That’s found nowhere in Scripture. 

Instead, it’s “believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved,” and his Spirit will come in and work in you,

and he will produce in you his fruit:  love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.  Let’s face it:  [the only one //who can make you holy like God] is the Holy Spirit in you. 

And the only way to be like Christ is to have the Spirit of Christ inside you.

It’s not will power, but Holy Spirit power, that makes you more like Jesus.

Aren’t you tired of forever turning over a new leaf?
