열매를 많이 맺는 삶

요15:5“나는 포도나무요 너희는 가지라 그가 내 안에, 내가 그 안에 거하면 사람이 열매를 많이 맺나니 나를 떠나서는 너희가 아무것도 할 수 없음이라”

며칠 전 갑자기 많이 내린 눈으로 바깥 출입이 힘들어져 꼼짝없이 집안에서 지내야 했습니다. 인생의 겨울은 바깥 활동 대신에 조용히 방안에서 지내는 시기입니다. 그 때 영혼의 방이 텅 비어 있으면 인생의 공허함에 잠기지만, 영혼의 방마다 하나님의 은혜와 사랑으로 가득 채워져 있으면 평화롭고 풍요로운 노년을 맞이합니다.

“나를 떠나서는 너희가 아무것도 할 수 없음이라” 

우리는 예수님을 떠나면 아무것도 아닙니다. 포도나무에 붙어있지 않은 가지가 스스로 열매를 맺지 못하듯이 우리 또한 예수님을 떠나서는 아무런 열매도 맺지 못합니다. 열매 없는 삶은 공허합니다. 하나님의 사랑 안에서 풍성한 열매를 맺은 영혼은 기쁨과 보람으로 가득합니다.

요16:9“죄에 대하여라 함은 그들이 나를 믿지 아니함이요” 

예수님을 믿는다는 것은 대속물로 귀한 목숨을 내어주신 그리스도의 십자가의 고난과 부활을 믿는 것만 뜻하지 않습니다. 동시에 포도나무에 붙어있는 가지처럼 언제나 우리 안에서 살아 역사하시는 주님을 믿고 주님을 의지하고 주님따라 행하는 것을 뜻합니다. 이것이 포도나무에 붙어있는 가지의 의미입니다.

마7:21“나더러 주여 주여 하는 자마다 다 천국에 들어갈 것이 아니요 다만 하늘에 계신 내 아버지의 뜻대로 행하는 자라야 들어가리라” 

아버지의 뜻은 내가 스스로 알아서 척척 행할 수 있는 것이 아닙니다. 내 안에 오신 보혜사께서 알려주셔야만 가능합니다. 주님의 일에서 가장 경계해야할 것이 바로 육체로 봉사하는 것입니다.

마7:17“이와 같이 좋은 나무마다 아름다운 열매를 맺고 못된 나무가 나쁜 열매를 맺나니” 아름다운 열매를 맺는 좋은 나무란 가지가 포도나무에 붙어있듯이 주님 안에 거하는 자입니다. 

롬11:17“또한 가지 얼마가 꺾이었는데 돌감람나무인 네가 그들 중에 접붙임이 되어 참감람나무 뿌리의 진액을 함께 받는 자가 되었은즉”

돌감람나무의 본성은 하루아침에 달라지지 않습니다. 참감람나무 뿌리의 진액을 받기 위해 우리는 날마다 육신의 생각대신에 영의 생각을 따라 살아가는 연습을 해야 합니다. 

롬8:7-8“육신의 생각은 하나님과 원수가 되나니 이는 하나님의 법에 굴복하지 아니할 뿐 아니라 할 수도 없음이라 육신에 있는 자들은 하나님을 기쁘시게 할 수 없느니라”

아담의 후손으로서 육체의 소욕에 익숙해진 우리로서는 부단한 노력이 없으면 어느새 다시금 옛 사람인 아담의 본성으로 돌아가 있습니다. “육체의 소욕은 죄를 범하고 하나님의 법을 위반함으로써 성령을 대적한다. 다른 한편으로는 육체가 성령을 대적함은 그것이 하나님을 섬기고자 하여 그분의 뜻을 행하고자 함으로써 나타난다.”(<그리스도의 영> 26장)

요5:19“내가 진실로 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 아들이 아버지께서 하시는 일을 보지 않고는 아무 것도 스스로 할 수 없나니” 

그런데 주님을 위한 예배와 봉사에서 우리는 주님의 뜻에 귀를 기울이는 대신 우리 스스로 결정하고 행하는 일들이 너무나 많습니다. 

빌3:3“하나님의 성령으로 봉사하며 그리스도 예수로 자랑하고 육체를 신뢰하지 아니하는 우리가 곧 할례파라”

우리의 섬김과 봉사는 예수님 닮은 듯 하지만 실상은 주님과 거리가 멉니다. 왜냐하면 육체의 능력으로 하나님을 섬겼지 영과 진리로 섬길 줄 몰랐기 때문입니다. 생각과 행동의 주인은 자기 자신이었지 주님이 아니었습니다. 가지인 우리는 다만 포도나무인 주님께 붙어 있음으로써만 많은 열매를 맺습니다. 자신의 생명이 주님의 것임을 믿는 사람은 삶의 매순간 자기 생각대로 행동하지 아니하고 언제나 생명의 주이신 주님께 묻고 주님의 뜻대로 말하고 행동합니다. 그런데 우리는 우리 가운데 오신 주님께 물을 줄을 모릅니다.

A Fruitful Life

John15:5 "I am the vine, and you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit: for without Me you can do nothing."

A few days ago, it suddenly snowed heavily, making it difficult to go outside, so I had to stay inside my house. The winter of life is a time when we spend quietly in our room instead of doing outdoor activities. At that time, if the room of the soul is empty, we will be immersed in the emptiness of life, but if the room of the soul is filled with the grace and love of God, we will have a peaceful and prosperous old age.

"Without Me you can do nothing" We are nothing apart from Jesus. Just as a branch that is not attached to the vine does not bear fruit on its own, so we cannot bear any fruit apart from Jesus. Life without fruit is empty. A soul that bears abundant fruit in God's love is full of joy and reward.

John16:9 "Of sin, because they do not believe in Me" Believing in Jesus is not only believing in the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ, who gave His precious life as a ransom. At the same time, it means believing in the Lord, who always lives and works in us like a branch attached to a vine, relying on the Lord, and following the Lord. This is the meaning of the branches attached to the vine.

Matt.7:21"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven." We

The will of the Father is not such thing that we can do easily on our own knowledge. It is possible only when the Comforter who has come in us make us know it. The most important thing in the Lord’s work is to guard against serving Him in the flesh.

Matt.7:17"Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, and a bad tree bears bad fruit." A good tree that bears beautiful fruit is one who abide in the Lord like the branches which are attached to the vine. Rom.11:17"And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree."

The nature of the wild olive tree does not change overnight. In order to receive the essence of the root of the olive tree, we must practice living according to the thoughts of the spirit instead of the thoughts of the flesh every day. Rom.8:7-8 "Because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be: so then those who are in the flesh cannot please God."

As descendants of Adam, we have become accustomed to the desires of the flesh, and without constant effort, we shall return to the nature of the old man, Adam. "On the one hand the flesh lusts against the Spirit in its committing sin and transgressing God’s law. On the other hand, its hostility to the Spirit is no less manifested in its seeking to serve God and do His will." (<The Spirit of Christ> ch.26)

John 5:19 "Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do;" But in our worship and service to the Lord, we decide and work on our own instead of listening to the Lord's will. Phil.3:3 "For we who are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh."

Our worship and service may look like resembling Jesus, but in reality we are far from Him. This is because we served God with the power of the flesh, but did not know how to serve Him with the Spirit and the truth. The master of our thoughts and actions was our own self and not the Lord. We, the branches, bear much fruit only by clinging to the Lord, the vine. Those who believe that their life belongs to the Lord do not act according to their own thoughts at every moment of their lives, but always inquire of the Lord, the Lord of life, and speak and act according to the will of the Lord. But we have no idea how to ask the Lord who has come within us. 24. 11. 30
