20240421 What will tomorrow bring to me?(2024/04/21)
(Deuteronomy 11:26) See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse
God, we love you.
God, we thank you.
(Deuteronomy 11:26) See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse
Everybody wants to know what tomorrow will bring to him or her.
Some people go to fortune tellers.
Will I be rich?
Will I be poor?
Will I be happy?
Or will I be unhappy?
The worldly philosophy teaches us, “we can get as much as we try.”
This lesson fits some people but does not many other people.
How about you? You have done your best in life.
Though, you are unhappy. You are poor. Maybe some of you failed in marriage.
Some may have failed in business. Some may have failed in workplaces.
Or you may have failed in educating your children.
We have so many things of failure in life.
Therefore, though the worldly lessons hit a few of your situations, they miss more of yours.
What do you think tomorrow will bring to you?
How does the Bible say to you?
It tells us there is a way of blessing and a way of curse.
(Deuteronmy 30:19) This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live
1. God tells us there is a way of blessing.
(Deuteronomy 11:26-7) [26] See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse- [27] the blessing if you obey the commands of the LORD your God that I am giving you today;
1) God says, if we obey his Word, we will be blessed.
(Luke 11:28) He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it."
2) What do we have to obey?
(Leviticus 26:1-12) [1] " 'Do not make idols or set up an image or a sacred stone for yourselves, and do not place a carved stone in your land to bow down before it. I am the LORD your God. [2] " 'Observe my Sabbaths and have reverence for my sanctuary. I am the LORD. [3] " 'If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, [4] I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees of the field their fruit. [5] Your threshing will continue until grape harvest and the grape harvest will continue until planting, and you will eat all the food you want and live in safety in your land. [6] " 'I will grant peace in the land, and you will lie down and no one will make you afraid. I will remove savage beasts from the land, and the sword will not pass through your country. [7] You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the sword before you. [8] Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you. [9] " 'I will look on you with favor and make you fruitful and increase your numbers, and I will keep my covenant with you. [10] You will still be eating last year's harvest when you will have to move it out to make room for the new. [11] I will put my dwelling place among you, and I will not abhor you. [12] I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people.
2. God tells us there is a way of curse.
(Leviticus 26:14-21) [14] " 'But if you will not listen to me and carry out all these commands, [15] and if you reject my decrees and abhor my laws and fail to carry out all my commands and so violate my covenant, [16] then I will do this to you: I will bring upon you sudden terror, wasting diseases and fever that will destroy your sight and drain away your life. You will plant seed in vain, because your enemies will eat it. [17] I will set my face against you so that you will be defeated by your enemies; those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee even when no one is pursuing you. [18] " 'If after all this you will not listen to me, I will punish you for your sins seven times over. [19] I will break down your stubborn pride and make the sky above you like iron and the ground beneath you like bronze. [20] Your strength will be spent in vain, because your soil will not yield its crops, nor will the trees of the land yield their fruit. [21] " 'If you remain hostile toward me and refuse to listen to me, I will multiply your afflictions seven times over, as your sins deserve.
(Deuteronomy 28:45) All these curses will come upon you. They will pursue you and overtake you until you are destroyed, because you did not obey the LORD your God and observe the commands and decrees he gave you.
King saul was cursed because he did not keep the command of the LORD.
(1 Samuel 13:13) "You acted foolishly," Samuel said. "You have not kept the command the LORD your God gave you; if you had, he would have established your kingdom over Israel for all time.
(1 Chronicles 10:13) Saul died because he was unfaithful to the LORD; he did not keep the word of the LORD and even consulted a medium for guidance,
Solomon was also cursed because he did not keep God’s covenant and decrees.
(1 Kings 11:11) So the LORD said to Solomon, "Since this is your attitude and you have not kept my covenant and my decrees, which I commanded you, I will most certainly tear the kingdom away from you and give it to one of your subordinates.
The Bible tells us a story about King Josiah. Since his father, King Amon and his grand father, King Manasseh were unfaithful to God, the North Israel was collapsed in his age.
The reason was simple: the kings didn’t keep the Word.
(2 Chronicles 34:21) "Go and inquire of the LORD for me and for the remnant in Israel and Judah about what is written in this book that has been found. Great is the LORD's anger that is poured out on us because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD; they have not acted in accordance with all that is written in this book."
We will be cursed if we don’t keep the Word.
This is the wisdom that we can get from today’s Word.
<Conclusion>
What will tomorrow bring to you?
You future will be done just as God tells you.
(Deuteronomy 11:26-28) [26] See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse- [27] the blessing if you obey the commands of the LORD your God that I am giving you today; [28] the curse if you disobey the commands of the LORD your God and turn from the way that I command you today by following other gods, which you have not known.
Those who keep the Word will be blessed.
They will enjoy the blessings on earth and have eternal life after death.
As the sons and daughters of God, they will be awarded and live happily in heaven.
Quite the opposite, those who does not keep the Word will be cursed on earth and suffer from the pains of sulfur in hell forever.
The Word of God will be fulfilled just as he says.
That is why we are saying that his Word is alive.
By his Word, how do you say about your future?
Are you sure if you stay in a way of blessing rather than a way of curse?
If you say “No,” then change the way from curse to blessing.
A woman in the Bible like Ruth changed her way from curse to blessing.
(Ruth 1:15-21) [15] "Look," said Naomi, "your sister-in-law is going back to her people and her gods. Go back with her." [16] But Ruth replied, "Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. [17] Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD deal with me, be it ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me." [18] When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her. [19] So the two women went on until they came to Bethlehem. When they arrived in Bethlehem, the whole town was stirred because of them, and the women exclaimed, "Can this be Naomi?" [20] "Don't call me Naomi, " she told them. "Call me Mara, because the Almighty has made my life very bitter. [21] I went away full, but the LORD has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? The LORD has afflicted me; the Almighty has brought misfortune upon me."
We all are strangers on earth.
We all are the cursed just like Ruth.
Though, we will be blessed if we keep the Word of God like our own lives from now on.
I bless all of you will follow the way of blessing from now on.
Hallelujah!
