Good morning everyone.  The Old Testament reading for Sunday will be Psalm 96:3 and the New Testament reading will be Acts 13:47. 

My sermon will be based on Jonah 4.  Hope to see everyone Sunday for worship!

시편 96편

Psalm 96

3. 그의 영광을 백성들 가운데에, 그의 기이한 행적을 만민 가운데에 선포할지어다

Declare his glory among the nations,

his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

사도행전 13장

Acts 13

47. 주께서 이같이 우리에게 명하시되 내가 너를 이방의 빛으로 삼아 너로 땅 끝까지 구원하게 하리라 하셨느니라 하니

For this is what the Lord has commanded us: “ ‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ”

요나 4장

Jonah 4

1. 요나가 매우 싫어하고 성내며

But to Jonah this seemed very wrong, and he became angry.

2. 여호와께 기도하여 이르되 여호와여 내가 고국에 있을 때에 이러하겠다고 말씀하지 아니하였나이까 그러므로 내가 빨리 다시스로 도망하였사오니 주께서는 은혜로우시며 자비로우시며 노하기를 더디하시며 인애가 크시사 뜻을 돌이켜 재앙을 내리지 아니하시는 하나님이신 줄을 내가 알았음이니이다

He prayed to the LORD, “Isnʼt this what I said, LORD, when I was still at home? That is what I tried to forestall by fleeing to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity.

3. 여호와여 원하건대 이제 내 생명을 거두어 가소서 사는 것보다 죽는 것이 내게 나음이니이다 하니

Now, LORD, take away my life, for it is better for me to die than to live.”

4. 여호와께서 이르시되 네가 성내는 것이 옳으냐 하시니라

But the LORD replied, “Is it right for you to be angry?”

5. 요나가 성읍에서 나가서 그 성읍 동쪽에 앉아 거기서 자기를 위하여 초막을 짓고 그 성읍에 무슨 일이 일어나는가를 보려고 그 그늘 아래에 앉았더라

Jonah had gone out and sat down at a place east of the city. There he made himself a shelter, sat in its shade and waited to see what would happen to the city.

6. 하나님 여호와께서 박넝쿨을 예비하사 요나를 가리게 하셨으니 이는 그의 머리를 위하여 그늘이 지게 하며 그의 괴로움을 면하게 하려 하심이었더라 요나가 박넝쿨로 말미암아 크게 기뻐하였더니

Then the LORD God provided a leafy plant and made it grow up over Jonah to give shade for his head to ease his discomfort, and Jonah was very happy about the plant.

7. 하나님이 벌레를 예비하사 이튿날 새벽에 그 박넝쿨을 갉아먹게 하시매 시드니라

But at dawn the next day God provided a worm, which chewed the plant so that it withered.

8. 해가 뜰 때에 하나님이 뜨거운 동풍을 예비하셨고 해는 요나의 머리에 쪼이매 요나가 혼미하여 스스로 죽기를 구하여 이르되 사는 것보다 죽는 것이 내게 나으니이다 하니라

When the sun rose, God provided a scorching east wind, and the sun blazed on Jonahʼs head so that he grew faint. He wanted to die, and said, “It would be better for me to die than to live.”

9. 하나님이 요나에게 이르시되 네가 이 박넝쿨로 말미암아 성내는 것이 어찌 옳으냐 하시니 그가 대답하되 내가 성내어 죽기까지 할지라도 옳으니이다 하니라

But God said to Jonah, “Is it right for you to be angry about the plant?” “It is,” he said. “And Iʼm so angry I wish I were dead.”

10. 여호와께서 이르시되 네가 수고도 아니하였고 재배도 아니하였고 하룻밤에 났다가 하룻밤에 말라 버린 이 박넝쿨을 아꼈거든

But the LORD said, “You have been concerned about this plant, though you did not tend it or make it grow. It sprang up overnight and died overnight.

11. 하물며 이 큰 성읍 니느웨에는 좌우를 분변하지 못하는 자가 십이만여 명이요 가축도 많이 있나니 내가 어찌 아끼지 아니하겠느냐 하시니라

And should I not have concern for the great city of Nineveh, in which there are more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left—and also many animals?”
