08. The Language of Love!
“I want to kiss your sweet lips.
For your love is sweeter than wine.”
(Song of Solomon 1:2)
The princess was in great shock. Everything had happened exactly as Joseph had described the day before! It was astonishing. It was as if Joseph himself had issued the commands. So, as soon as night fell, the princess hurried to find Joseph, with her maid leading the way.
“No, Princess!
Are you coming to work now?
What will you do if people find out?”
“It’s fine.
I came carefully, so don’t worry!”
There was a hint of concern in the princess’s voice.
“They say a long tail is bound to be stepped on.”
Joseph expressed his concern, but the princess quickly moved on as if she wasn’t interested.
“What did you say to me yesterday?”
“Um!~
I said the princess is beautiful, didn’t I?”
“Don’t joke around!
Didn’t you say yesterday that the chief cupbearer would be restored to his position and the chief baker would be executed
and given to the birds?”
The princess asked sternly, and Joseph, surprised, replied,
“Why,
has something changed?”
Joseph asked back.
“Yes?
So, Joseph,
were you sure that it would happen that way?”
When Joseph remained silent, the princess pressed him again.
“Joseph!”
Finally, Joseph began to speak.
“The two men who came into the prison
were very anxious one day,
so I asked why they were so anxious.
The chief cupbearer told me his dream
and said there was no one to interpret it.
So, I interpreted it as a dream of restoration.
And I asked him to mention my unjust imprisonment to the king when he was restored to his position.
But didn’t the chief cupbearer tell my story to the king?"
When the princess remained silent, Joseph continued.
"They say the mind changes when going to the restroom
and when coming back.
It’s just like that!
Joseph continued his story.
“Then the chief baker also told me his dream,
and I interpreted it exactly as I told you yesterday!
So, I just informed you of the dream’s outcome last night. Naturally, if the chief cupbearer survives,
he would be appointed as the chief officer in charge of food
and drink.”
The princess, now tense, asked Joseph again.
“How do you interpret dreams?
Did you learn how to interpret them?”
“No! It’s just that!”
Joseph trailed off, as he had never learned how to interpret dreams. Through the silence, Joseph could feel the princess staring at him even in the dark. He couldn’t explain further. Then the princess, as if remembering something, spoke.
“Oh! Right.
When we first met in the palace,
you told me about your life in your hometown,
didn’t you?
Yes!
You also talked about dreams
and their meanings to your brothers.
Isn’t that right?”
Joseph continued.
“In fact,
I just spoke as God showed me in dreams or gave me the wisdom to understand them.
I just said what He revealed to me.”
“Not only that,
but you also believe in it thoroughly,
don’t you?”
“Of course!
Since He revealed it,
I just believe what He revealed.”
A moment of silence passed between them. Then the princess spoke again.
“Joseph!
Can I also believe in Him?”
“Of course,
He is the Creator of all things
and desires everyone to return to Him.”
“Joseph!
Then what does it mean to believe?
Faith seems too abstract to grasp.”
“Princess!
Faith means confessing with your mouth
that His words will come true,
knowing they will, and living accordingly.”
“Then, what should we do when the reality and circumstances are completely different from His words?”
"Princess!
When a person walks with their head down,
looking only at their feet, it can hinder their walk.
If you look far ahead,
you will see what is coming
and can walk well without looking directly at your feet.
But if you only look at your feet,
you may know exactly where to step,
but you will only know the details of the moment it comes to you.
So, the difference between looking far ahead
and reaching the point is like this.
If you look at your feet, you can see every grain of dirt,
but you don’t need to see every grain to walk.
You just need to step forward, but people tend to look at every grain of dirt and try to understand the world.
However, unless it’s a very dangerous thorn or an important situation, this is unnecessary.
If you look far and wide, you will already know what is coming when it gets close, and you can move forward without worry.
As you move forward, you can see further ahead again."
“Oh! Joseph!
I have lived so foolishly, haven’t I?”
“Still, God loves you, Princess.
So today, you have realized and experienced His love!”
“Thank you, Joseph!
Thank you for helping me see what I couldn’t see!”
As the princess shed tears and gently embraced Joseph, he opened his arms wide and hugged her tightly. Now, they both understood and realized the true meaning of life and love.
