PAWTUCKET -- Alas, worse days than Thursday have graced the world of Red Sox baseball. As far as 2004 goes, though, this one has to rank up there.

The Red Sox lost an afternoon affair, their sixth defeat in nine games. The PawSox did the same, losing to Richmond, 10-5, in front of 9,105 fans at McCoy Stadium.

As the PawSox dropped their 24th game in their last 35, it was announced that Carlos Beltran was dealt to Houston, thus ending the Red Sox hopes of acquiring the All-Atar center fielder. And, oh yeah, that added pitching depth on the brink of joining the Red Sox -- well, never mind.

Just one of those days.

The story of the PawSox game, from an organizational perspective, was the scheduled rehab appearances of pitchers Byung-Hyun Kim, who was booed lustily when announced to the near-sold out crowd, and Ramiro Mendoza. And with Red Sox brass looking on, Kim had even less velocity than before his month layoff and Mendoza left after just an inning of work.

He was slated to throw three innings or 45-50 pitches. Mendoza threw 16 pitches, 11 strikes, allowed a hit and struck out one.

Red Sox General Manager Theo Epstein sat in the sixth row directly behind home plate, along with Director of Minor League Administration Raquel Ferreira, Assistant to the General Manager Jed Hoyer and Director of Baseball Operation/Assistant Director of Player Development Peter Woodfork. The group departed McCoy after the top half of the ninth inning.

Three hours before the game, Mendoza, who had a 6.75 ERA last season in 37 games,was seen in the locker room with a large heating pad around his neck, while relaxing on a couch in sandals and talking on his cell phone. An hour later, Mendoza, still not dressed, was again talking on the cell phone in the runway of the PawSox dugout with a brace a heat compression pack on his neck.

It became apparent why after the game.

"Ramiro had stiffness in his neck, he said during warm-ups it may be a problem," said PawSox manager Buddy Bailey. "He slept on it wrong and it had nothing to do with his shoulder, thank goodness."

As for Kim, the side-arming enigma started and went an inning, as expected. He threw 15 pitches, 12 for strikes, and like Mendoza, allowed a hit and had a strikeout. However, while Kim was throwing 94-95 miles per hour a year ago at this time, as the Red Sox closer, he reached 83 mph just once on the radar guns of several scouts in attendance and was consistently clocked around 80-81. Earlier this season, when he was demoted from Boston because of ineffectiveness, Kim was hitting 84-85.

사이드암 투수 김병현 역시 1이닝을 던졌다. 15개의 공을 던졌으며, 그중에 12개는 스트라익이였다. 맨도자와 같이 1안타를 허용하였으며 삼진하나를 잡아내었다..

작년 이맘때즘 김은 보스톤의 마무리로서 94-95마일을 던졌고, 이날 등판엔 최고구속 83마일정도를 찍었다..그리고 꾸준히 80-81을 찍었다..

올시즌 초반엔 김의 구속은 84-85 마일이였다.

After two starts at Pawtucket, Kim departed to his homeland of South Korea to see a hip/leg/back specialist and after three weeks, returned to Boston last week. Thursday was his first game Kim pitched in since May 18.

포터켓에서 2번 등판뒤 김은 그의 조국인 한국으로 돌아가 그의 엉덩이/다리/허리 전문가와 치료후 3주(??) 후에 보스톤으로 돌아왔다..

목요일의 경기는 그의마지막 경기였던 5월18일 이후에 갖는 첫 경기였다..

After being acquired lat May for Shea Hillebrand, Kim went 8-5 with a 3.18 ERA in 49 games, five starts for the Red Sox. He also led the team with 16 saves, however, he became ineffective late in the season and was used just once in the post-season. He was left off the Red Sox roster for the Yankees series and gave the fans the middle finger when he was booed during pre-game introductions. Most didn’t expect him to return, but Epstein re-signed Kim to a two-year, $10 million contract during the off-season.

지난 시즌 셰이힐랜브랜드와의 맞트레이드로 보스톤에 온 김은 선발투수로서  8승5패 3.18 방어율 을 기록하였고.. 또한 마무리 투수로서16세이브도 기록하였다.

"Kim said he felt good afterwood so he’ll cranked it on Sunday, but Ramiro, we’ll eval‎uate him (today)," said Bailey. "He’s not scratch as of now for Sunday, but we’ll have to talk with the staff and Theo and go from there."

해석하고 나서 이런 생각이 드네요...

지난시즌 8승5패 16세이브란 기록을 해줬고

선발진이 구멍나면 선발에서..불펜에 구멍이 생겼으면 불펜에서

군소리 없이 열심히 해주었는데..구속이 내려갔다고 지들이 할말이 있을련지...ㅡㅡ^

그리고 프로비던스 저널에선 88마일..여기선 83인데...누가 맞는말을 하고있는건지..

The PawSox jumped out early with a three-spot in the first inning. RF Adam Hyzdu connected for his 14th home run of the season into the leftfield berm, off a 1-2 offering from Richmond starter Mike Romano with one out and after a walk to 1B Brian Daubach and a ground out, 3B Earl Snyder blasted his 19th of the year into the left field parking lot. For Snyder, the homer was his third in four games and increased his RBI total to 57, just two off the IL lead.

Recently named IL all-star Tim Kester, taking his regular turn in the rotation, relieved Mendoza in the third, and was ineffective for the first time in recent memory. The team’s best pitcher thus far, Kester was roughed up for seven earned runs in four innings, including the nightmarish sixth, when the change-of-speeds minor league veteran was taken for two long balls and five runs. He would allow three homers in the outing, increasing his season total to 16. He allowed eight hits and struck out three.

Anastacio Martinez, the hard-throwing righty that was recently demoted from Boston, relieved Kester and allowed three runs.

Daubach added a two-run double in the seventh.

"That was Kester’s worse outing of the year and after that five-spot, that was it," Bailey said.

선수소개할때 야유했다는 말 보니깐 정말 짜증나네요. 빨리 좋은 모습 보이고 저동네 뜨길 바랍니다. 그리고 구속문제는 sosh에서도 말이 많은데 프로비던스 저널의 보도가 맞습니다. 중계때도 그렇게 언급 되었고, 평균구속은 84~85정도였고 최고 구속은 89였다고 테오가 그랬다는군요.

저도 아침에 sosh에서 야유 받앗다는 글 보고 혼자 엄청 열받아서 여기 게시판에 그 야그 쓰며 광분했다가 제풀에 지쳐 바로 지웠었죠..암튼 화딱질 만빵~~~~ 치료 받고 첫 재활등판하는 선수 한테 할 짓인지.... 정말 정을 줄래야 줄수가 없는 사람들이에요..ㅠㅠ

나름대로 보스턴에 애정도 있고 선수들도 좋지만.. 마이너리그 재활 첫등판에서 야유라니. 참.. 기가 막히네요. 저 사람들은 김병현 선수를 가질 자격이 없습니다. 재활 완벽하게 해서 완벽한 피칭한 다음에, 2년 뒤엔 반드시 저 동네 떠나서 보한듯이 더 잘해야합니다. 너무 화가 나네요.
