This year, we’re thrilled to welcome back two of our alumni, Ella-Mae and Ned, who have returned to Marlborough College Malaysia as Gap Assistants.

Ella-Mae shares that “it’s not until you leave that you realise how special MCM really is”. She reflects on how her time here helped her to become open-minded and gave her a positive outlook on the world, having been surrounded by so many different cultures, personalities and perspectives. “MCM is unlike any other place”, she says.

Ned adds, “Boarding at MCM taught me to be independent, appreciate the little things and it’s really set me up for university next year".

Ella-Mae, who speaks fluent Mandarin, is joining Durham University to study Combined Sciences: International Relations, Economics and Chinese, while Ned will be studying Marketing at Bristol University.

It’s very special to see them both back, giving back to the community that shaped them. As a not-for-profit, non-franchised school, every pupil who graduates from MCM in Upper Sixth is invited to join the Marlburian Club, which connects and supports the Old Marlburian community throughout their lives from both Marlborough College in the UK and Marlborough College in Malaysia. Members enjoy reunions and social events, sporting groups, mentoring, professional networking and MC Global Connect, an online platform that links OMs, parents and friends across the world, all bound by the Marlborough Spirit.

올해, 말레이시아 말버러 칼리지에서 갭 어시스턴트로 돌아온 두 동문 엘라-매와 네드를 다시 만나게 되어 매우 기쁩니다.
엘라-매는 "떠날 때가 되어서야 MCM이 얼마나 특별한지 깨닫게 된다"고 말합니다. 그녀는 이곳에서 보낸 시간이 그녀가 열린 마음을 갖게 하고 다양한 문화, 개성, 관점에 둘러싸여 세상을 긍정적으로 바라보는 데 도움이 되었다고 회상합니다. "MCM은 다른 어떤 곳과도 다릅니다."라고 그녀는 말합니다.
네드는 "MCM에서 기숙사 생활을 하면서 독립적이고 작은 것들에 감사하는 법을 배웠으며, 내년에 대학에 진학할 수 있게 되었습니다."라고 덧붙였습니다.
중국어를 유창하게 구사하는 엘라-매는 더럼 대학교에 입학하여 국제 관계, 경제, 중국어를 공부하고 있으며, 네드는 브리스톨 대학교에서 마케팅을 공부할 예정입니다.
두 학생이 다시 돌아와 자신을 형성한 커뮤니티에 환원하는 모습을 보는 것은 매우 특별합니다. 비영리 비프랜차이즈 학교로서 어퍼 식스에서 MCM을 졸업하는 모든 학생은 영국의 말버러 칼리지와 말레이시아의 말버러 칼리지에서 평생 동안 올드 말버리안 커뮤니티를 연결하고 지원하는 말버리안 클럽에 초대받습니다. 회원들은 말버러 스피릿에 묶여 있는 재결합과 사교 행사, 스포츠 그룹, 멘토링, 전문 네트워킹, 전 세계 OM, 부모 및 친구를 연결하는 온라인 플랫폼인 MC Global Connect를 즐깁니다.
