How To Wrap Up My Life
I retired at 67.
Which means my fixed minimum income had been cut off.
My pension is minimum so no Medicaid benefits, which are freely given to the poor. (So, I am not poor.)
Instead, I barely managed to get a score, so I was able to receive Medicare even though I had to pay for it.
In the end, my pension is no better than that of a Medicaid recipient, but I am still satisfied to be free.
(But health is more important than insurance, and there is no major problem for now.)
Although I receive a minimum pension, fortunately I am currently working full-time without pay for related work at two nonprofit organizations, that I have founded, and housing costs are supported by the organizations.
So the food and other expenses are coming out of my pocket.
Since I don't spend on anything else, there's no problem with my current living situation.
But do people just eat and live?
And although there are hardly any opportunities for everyday social activity here, I still have no problem getting around except for my own laziness.
Fortunately, although it is unpaid, I am not bored because I am physically supporting the projects of the organizations mentioned above.
And it's rewarding.
However, I have a desire, or a dream, to make those related efforts, such as free acupuncture or exercise classes, and regional enlightenment and education, more active to reach a larger audience.
A little space is needed for this, which is very difficult to achieve here.
Space is one thing, and work is another, but one unpredictable factor is my health and lifespan.
As someone said, should I stop expanding and instead cut back, discard, and wrap things up one by one?
Or should I live, dreaming and challenging myself as if I was going to live thirty or forty more years, not knowing when I might leave this world?
Perhaps the most realistic expectation might be: as Korean men live to an average of 80 years...?
Until then, if I must sow even a seed that I cannot reap...?
In any case, for the rest of my life, I must burn everything I have, leaving nothing to carry with me when I die.
If even one or two phoenix chicks emerge from that pile of fire, what more could I hope for...
