God Wants Us to Be Filled with the Holy Spirit ㅡ

 “For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God: for God gives not the Spirit by measure to him.”
 (John 3:34)

Christ has promised the gift of the Spirit to His church, and the promise belongs to us as much as to the first disciples.

But like every other promise, it is given on conditions.

There are many who believe, and profess to claim the Lord′s promise; they talk about Christ and about the Holy Spirit, yet receive no benefit.

They do not surrender the soul to be guided and controlled by the divine agencies.

We cannot use the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit is to use us.

Through the Spirit, God works in His people “to will and to do of his good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13.

But many will not submit to this.

They want to manage themselves.

This is why they do not receive the heavenly gift.

Only to those who wait humbly upon God, who watch for His guidance and grace, is the Spirit given....

There is no limit to the usefulness of one who, putting aside self, makes room for the working of the Holy Spirit upon his heart, and lives a life wholly consecrated to God....

If His people will remove the obstructions, He will pour forth the waters of salvation in abundant streams through human channels....

The Spirit furnishes the strength that sustains striving, wrestling souls in every emergency, amid the unfriendliness of relatives, the hatred of the world, and the realization of their own imperfections and mistakes.

A union of divine and human endeavor, a close connection first, last, and ever, with God, the source of all strength—this is absolutely necessary.

To Jesus, who emptied Himself for the salvation of lost humanity, the Holy Spirit was given without measure.

So it will be given to every follower of Christ when the whole heart is surrendered for His indwelling.

Our Lord Himself has given the command, “Be filled with the Spirit,”(Ephesians 5:18) and this command is also a promise of its fulfillment.

우리가 성령충만하기를 원하시는 하나님 ㅡ

“하나님이 보내신 이는 하나님의 말씀을 하나니 이는 하나님이 성령을 한량없이 주심이니라”(요 3:34)

그리스도께서는 당신의 교회에게 성령의 선물을 주시기를 약속하셨다.

주님의 약속을 주장하고 믿는 많은 사람들이 있다.

저희들은 그리스도와 성령에 대하여 말한다. 그러나 아무 이익도 받지 못한다.

저희들은 저들의 영혼이 하늘의 대리인들에게 지배되고 인도되도록 자신을 복종시키지 않는다.

우리는 성령을 사용할 수 없다.
성령이 우리를 사용하여야 한다.

이 성령을 통하여 당신의 백성에게 임하신다.

“자기의 기쁘신 뜻을 위하여 너희로 소원을 두고 행하게 하시나니”(빌 2:13) 그러나 많은 사람들은 이에 순복하지 않는다.

저희들은 저들 자신을 스스로 지배하기를 원한다.

이 때문에 저희들은 하늘의 은사를 받지 못한다.

하나님을 겸손하게 기다리고 그의 인도하심과 은혜를 지켜보는 이들에게만 성령이 주어진다.

그의 마음에 성령께서 역사하시도록 자리를 만들고 그 자신을 부인하고 그리고 그의 생애를 완전히 하나님께 헌신하는 이들은 무한히 유용한 인물들이다.

만일 당신의 백성들이 방해물을 제거할 것 같으면 그는 인간 통로를 통하여 구원의 생수를 풍성하게 부어주실 것이다.

성령께서는 세상의 증오와 불친절한 친적들과 자신들의 불완전함과 잘못을 느끼는 중에 닥치는 모든 긴급 사태에 영혼들이 씨름하고 투쟁하는 일들을 견디어 내도록 힘을 주신다.

모든 힘의 근원이신 하나님과 더불어 처음과 나중과 항상 친밀히 결합하는 신성과 인간의 노력과 연합은 절대적으로 필요한 것이다.

잃어버린 인류를 구원하시기 위하여 자신을 비우신 예수님에게는 성령이 제한 없이 부어졌었다.

그리스도를 따르는 모든 자들에게 역시 그들이 온 마음을 그분의 내재하심에 복종시킬 때에 주어질 것이다.

“성령의 충만을 받으라”(엡 5:18)는 명령은 우리 주님께서 스스로 하신 명령이며 이 명령 또한 그것을 이루게 하는 약속된 것이다.
