Iron Man 3 is an American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Iron Man. It is produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios. It is the sequel to Iron Man and Iron Man 2, and the seventh installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Robert Downey, Jr. continues in the role of the title character of billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist Tony Stark, with Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle co-starring. Marvel says: "Iron Man 3 pits brash but brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible."

Gwyneth Paltrow was asked about making Iron Man 3 and said: "I think this movie ends in a really unexpected way and there's so much heart to it. Downey Jr. said of the movie that, "this might be our best effort yet." Marvel says that Downey Jr.'s character, Tony Stark, finds the answer to a question that he has been thinking about throughout the Iron Man trilogy. He has wondered how important the technology-filled suits are that he wears to give him special powers. He asks: "Does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?"
