39) Apl 2 (Mon) Travel to Happiness,  Lugo - Pomferrada - Astorga - Leon

  It was a clear morning in Lugo. We arrived in Barcelona on March 8th, so today marks our 25th day in Spain and our wedding anniversary. It was April 2nd, 1970, so 37 years have passed. We chose April 2nd as our wedding date because April 1st is April Fool's Day, and I hoped our sacred marriage wouldn't be a hoax.

  This morning, the love between the couple, Miunjeong and Go Eunjeong, melted into our hearts, and as they entered their golden years, I felt a renewed sense of affection. I felt good. My condition also improved accordingly. So, today, when we arrived in Leon, we decided to invite the Jeong family for a drink. Our rental car indicated a distance of 4,892 kilometers. We left at 10:30. We drove on the highway. Sometimes we drove through the mountains, sometimes we drove along valleys. Some of those high mountains were covered in snow.

자욱한 안개 속을 뚫고 달리는 기분이 짱하다.  저 산 밑을  Santiago로 가는 각국의 순례자들이 지금도 걸어 갈 것이다. 어느 지점에서 이 순례자를 볼 수 있을 까 지도를 자세히 보니 Astorga와 Leon 사이의 길에서 만날 수 있어 보인다.

117Km를 달려 5,009Km 지점에 고도(古都) Pomferrada에 왔다. 고성이 있다. 그러나 옛 고성을 황폐하여였고 지금 새롭게 재 건축할러고 준비 중이다.

After driving 117 km, I arrived at the ancient capital of Pomferrada at the 5,009 km mark. There's a castle there. However, the old castle was in ruins and preparations are underway to rebuild it.

117Km를 달려 5,009Km 지점에 고도(古都) Pomferrada에 왔다. 고성이 있다. 그러나 옛 고성을 황폐하여였고 지금 새롭게 재 건축할러고 준비 중이다.

                           For some reason, Mr. Jeong and his his wife didn't get out of the car, so my wife and I walked around the castle. I wonder when it was built, but no sign was found no matter how hard I searched. It looks like renovations will begin soon.
왠일인지 정사장 내외는 차에서 내리지 않아 아내와 함께 이 고성을 걸어 보았다. 언제 세운 것일까 아무리 안내판을 찾어도 없다. 곧 보수 공사가 시작될 것 같다. 

                                        After a while, Mrs. Jeong got out of the car and took a commemorative photo. From here, two groups of pilgrims could be seen in the distance. It seemed like it would take more than 30 minutes for them to reach this place. We left at 11:43 and headed for Astroga, where you can feel the spirit of the master craftsman Gaudí.                                   한참 후 Mrs.정이 차에서 나와 기념 사진을 찍다.  이 곳에서 순례자 2팀이 멀리 보인다. 이들이 이곳에 도착할려면 30분 이상 걸릴 것 같아 11시 43분 이곳을 떠나 명장(名匠) 가우디의 숨결을 느낄 수 있는 Astroga로 출발했다.

N-6 도로를 달리니  Astroga가 나온다.(5,079Km을 달려 온 것이다.)

Astroga

                                                    It is a small city with a population of 13,000, located 50 km west of Leon.
                                                      레온에서 서쪽으로 50Km 지점의 인구 1만 3천명의 작은 도시이다.

Here, the renowned architect Gaudí designed and supervised the construction of the Episcopal Palace (Palacio Episcopal) from 1899 to 1893. Due to disagreements with the cathedral authorities, perhaps due to the castle-like design, Gaudí halted construction midway, and another architect completed it.
이곳에는 건축의 명장 '가우디'가 1899-1893년  주교관(Palacio Episcopal)을 설계, 공사를 지휘하였다. 마치 성처럼 보이는 디자인 때문인 지 성당 측과 의견이 맞지 않아 가우디는 도중에 건축을 중단하고 다른 건축가가 완성하였다. 

Even after its completion, the bishop, feeling ashamed, refused to live there. Now, it is marked with a sign reading "Gaudi House," and used as a museum. Over a century later, Gaudí's work alone draws tourists to this small town, demonstrating his influence here as well.

완성후에도 주교는 수치스러워 하며 이곳에 살지않앗다. 지금은 '가우디 관'이라고 표지판을

붙이고 박물관으로 이용하고 있다. 100여년이 지난 지금은 가우디 작품 하나로 이 조그마한 도시에 관광객이 몰리고 있어 가우디의 위력을 여기서도 볼 수 있다.

A commemorative photo in front of forsythia flowers, just like in Korea. 37 years ago, on April 2nd, the day of our wedding, forsythia flowers were in full bloom in Haeundae, Busan, our honeymoon destination.

37년 전 4월 2일 결혼 당일 신혼 여행지 부산 해운대에도 개나리 꽃이 활짝 피었었다.

39)4월 2일(월) 행복 성지 순례 Lugo 출발- Pomferrada-Astorga-Leon

Lugo의 아침은 맑았다. 바르셀로나에 도착한 날이 3월 8일이니 오늘은 스페인 온지 25일 째이며, 우리의 결혼 기념일이다. 1970년 4월 2일이었으니 37년이나 지났다.4월 2일을 결혼 날짜로 정한 것은 4월 1일이 만우절이라 우리의 성스러운혼인이 거짓이 안되기를 기원하는 나의 소박한 바램으로 4월 2일로 정했다. 미운정 고은정 다 우리 마음에 녹아서 노년의 길에 들어 선 부부의 정이 오늘 아침 새삼스럽게 정겹게 느껴진다.기분이 좋았다. 그러니 내 컨디션도 덩달아 좋았다.

그레서 오늘은 Leon에 도착하면  정사장 부부를 초청해서 한잔을 쏘기로 했다. 우리의 렌터 카는 4,892Km를 가르킨다. 10시 30분 출발했다. 고속도로로 달린다. 때로는 산 속을 달리고 때로는 계곡을 끼고 달린다. 저 높은 산에는 눈이 쌓여 있는 곳도 있다.
