I disagree that the extended family is not
as important now as before. Nowadays, many people live without any relatives or
grandparents. But, some people aren't. There are two reasons why.
First reason is that we don't need to go to
grandparents' house in traditional holidays. We have to visit grandparents when
we have family big celebration or traditional holidays, but we don't need to go
if we live together. Especially big holidays, it has heavy traffic, so it takes
too much time to arrive. If the distance is very far, we can't visit them many
times too. (So we only call them and ask that
they are fine or not. The more family we
have, the more love we feel. So, there
are disadvantages too, however, I think there are more advantages than
disadvantages.
Second reason is that when our parents (will) should go out, (our)
grandparents can take care of us. When our parents are busy, no one can take
care of us. However, we are safe if there are someone who can take care of
us.
Also, grandparents feel isolated when they live alone. But we can talk with
each other and spend more time with family. So, for everyone, (to) live with grandparents is good.
Because of these reasons, my view on this
issue is that extended family is important.
Comment:
Have a nice day to you. Well, in your writing today I
also go along with you. Maybe in Korea more percent that
choose to live as nuclear
family instead, than living to their parents by the time when they have their own
families. But in the Philippines, more people used to stay in their parent’s
house even if they have families. So
same reason with you, I agree the
advantages living in our grandparents but some
of it trying to be independent by their parents for them to prove that they can
stand alone and know the responsible especially when they have children already
