첫댓글The `arm' here is just used in its literal sense. Norplant is a contraceptive which works by being placed under the skin of the upper arm through a small incision using local anesthesia, and the procedure takes only 10-15 minutes. Sorta shocking, isn't it?
For your reference, the reason for the judge's ruling on this case is that when she maltreats her child, she should also be deprived of the right to produce a child. What's the point in giving birth to a baby if you're finally going to treat the baby badly? This seems to be the judge's point.
I was really shocked. Becase I've never thought of possibility of a contraceptive impllanted in one's arm!!! My prior knowledge about implanting a contraceptive goes only to somewhere in womb. Thank you very much for your kind and informative answers!
