Chapter 14

14:1 Now the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread were only two days away,

이제 유월절과 무교절이 오직 이틀 앞으로 다가왔다.

and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some sly way 

to arrest Jesus and kill him.

그리고 대제사장들과 율법사들은 예수를 체포하여 죽일 몇가지 교활한 방법을 찾고 있었다. 

14:2 "But not during the Feast," they said, "그러나 축제기간동안에는 말자."고 그들이 말했다.

"or the people may riot. 그렇지 않으면 사람들이 폭동을 일으킬 것이다.

 
14:3 While he was in Bethany, 그가 베다니에 있는 동안

reclining at the table in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper,

문둥병자 시몬으로 알려진 한 사람의 집에서 상에 기대어 (있는 동안)

 a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard.

한 여자가 아주 비싼 향유, 곧 순전한 나드로 만들어진 옥합(설화석고) 단지를 가지고 왔다.

 She broke the jar and poured the perfume on his head.

그녀는 그 단지를 깨뜨려 그의 머리 위에 그 향유를 부었다.

14:4 Some of those present were saying indignantly(분노하여) to one another,

그 자리에 있던 사람들 중에 일부는 분노하여 서로 말하기를 

"Why this waste of perfume?왜 이 사람은 향유를 낭비하는가?

14:5 It could have been sold for more than a year's wages and the money given to the poor."

1년치 급여 이상의 값에 팔아서 그 돈을 가난한 사람들에게 줄 수도 있었을 것이다."

And they rebuked her harshly. 그리고 그들은 엄하게 그녀를 책망했다.

14:6 "Leave her alone," said Jesus. "그녀를 혼자있게 놔두어라." 예수께서 말씀하셨다.

"Why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful thing to me.

"왜 너희들은 그녀를 성가시게 하는가? 그녀는 아름다운 것을 내게 행하였다."

14:7 The poor you will always have with you, 가난한 자들은 항상 너희와 함께 있을 것이다.

and you can help them any time you want.

그리고 너희들은 너희가 원하는 어떤 시간에도 그들을 도울 수 있다.

But you will not always have me. 그러나 너희는 항상 나와 있을(나를 가질) 수 없을 것이다. 

14:8 She did what she could. 그 여자는 그녀가 할 수 있는 것을 했다.

She poured perfume on my body beforehand to prepare for my burial.

그 여자는 내 장례를 준비하려고 미리 내 몸에 향유를 부었다.

14:9 I tell you the truth, 내가 진실을 너희에게 말한다.

wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world, 

복음이 전 세계에 설교되어질 때는 언제든지 

what she has done will also be told, in memory of her(그녀를 기념하여)."

그녀가 행하였던 것이 그녀를 기념하여 또한 말해질 것이다.
