주간묵상 25-38

<영혼의 심폐소생술>

벽시계를 바라보며 묵상,

새끼손가락만한 건전지 하나로

몇 년 동안 계속 돌아간다.

전원이 끊기면 1초도 더 못 돈다.

사람도 호흡이 멈추면 4분 이내에

심폐소생술 등 응급조치가 필요,

6분을 넘기면 뇌기능이 정지,

사망에 이르게 된다고-,

사람, 호흡, 시계, 건전지.

십대 때 친구들과 호흡 참기 시합에

기를 쓰고 3분을 참은 적이 있었다.

해녀들은 5-7분도 참는다는데-

지금 벽시계를 바라보며

호흡을 1분 동안 참아 보았다.

119 신세를 질 것만 같다.

정상적 호흡으로 산소공급이

원활해야 건강한 것처럼

영혼도 정상적 호흡이 되어야-

육체의 정상호흡이 불가능하면

목에 구멍을 뚫어 호스를 꼽고

인공호흡기로 산소를-

잠시라도 호흡이 중단되면

뇌기능 손상과 전신마비-

영정사진을 준비해야-

육체가 호흡으로 생명을 유지하듯,

영혼도 호흡으로 하나님과 교제하며

양심이 계속 살아 있어야 한다.

성령(רוּחַ, πνεῦμα): 호흡 바람.

사람을 창조하실 때

코에 불어넣은 생기.

영혼의 산소와 같은 것

숨을 들이쉬고 내쉬는 것처럼,

말씀과 성령을 통해서

하나님의 생기를 받아들이고

기도와 찬양과 고백을 통해서

하나님께 감사를 올려드림이

지속되어야 건전한 인격이 된다.

“항상 기뻐하라”

“쉬지 말고 기도하라”

“범사에 감사하라”(살전 5:17)

“호흡이 있는 자마다 여호와를

찬양할지어다.”(시편 150:6)

영적호흡도 일상의 호흡처럼

자연스러운 리듬이 되어야한다.

“영혼 없는 몸이 죽은 것 같이

행함이 없는 믿음은 죽은 것”(약 2:26)

영적호흡이 중단되면

선악의 구분이 흐려지고

양심이 마비되고,

윤리도덕 불감증이 온다.

주변에, 국내외에

영적호흡이 중단된 자들이 많다.

색깔이 노랗다고 다 금인가?

어제는 서낭당, 오늘은 교회,

내일은 무당집, 다음은 사이비.

영혼의 목에 구멍이 뚫리기 전

영혼의 배터리를 충전하자!

국가가의 위기, 사회적 혼란,

교회와 가정의 파탄,

영혼의 호흡이 중단되었기에-

“영혼이 잘됨 같이 범사가 잘되고

강건하기를 간구하노라 자녀들이

진리 안에서 행하는 것보다

더 기쁜 일이 없도다.”(요3 1:2-4)

영혼의 심폐소생술로 양심을 회복하자!!

<CPR of the soul>

As I gaze at the wall clock, I reflect:

with nothing more than a small battery the size of my little finger, it runs faithfully for years.

But once the power is cut, it cannot last even a single second longer.

In the same way, when a person’s breath stops, emergency measures such as CPR must be applied within four minutes.

After six minutes, brain function ceases, and death follows.

Man, breath, clock, battery—how strikingly they are linked.

In my teenage years, I once joined my friends in a breath-holding contest, straining to last three minutes.

I heard that divers can hold their breath for five to seven minutes.

Now, as I look at the wall clock, I try holding my breath for just one minute—

and I feel as though I might need to call 911.

Just as physical health depends on the steady supply of oxygen,

so the soul must also breathe normally.

If natural breathing becomes impossible, doctors cut an opening in the throat and insert a tube,

connecting it to a respirator to supply oxygen.

Even a brief cessation of breath can cause brain damage or paralysis—

a sign that the funeral portrait should soon be prepared.

Just as the body sustains life through breath,

the soul must sustain its fellowship with God through breathing,

keeping the conscience alive and awake.

The Spirit (רוּחַ, πνεῦμα)—breath, wind—

is the life-breath God breathed into man’s nostrils at creation,

the oxygen of the soul.

As inhaling and exhaling are constant,

so must we, through the Word and the Spirit, continually receive God’s breath of life,`

and through prayer, praise, and confession,

continually return thanksgiving to Him—

that we may be whole and upright in character.

“Rejoice always.”

“Pray without ceasing.”

“Give thanks in all circumstances.” (1 Thess. 5:17–18)

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” (Ps. 150:6)

Spiritual breathing must become as natural and rhythmic as daily breathing.

“For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead.” (James 2:26)

If spiritual breathing ceases,

the distinction between good and evil fades,

the conscience is numbed,

and moral sensitivity disappears.

Look around—both at home and abroad—

how many have ceased to breathe spiritually!

But not everything yellow is gold.

Yesterday they bowed at a shaman’s shrine, today they sit in church, tomorrow they consult a fortune-teller, the next day they follow a cult.

Before a spiritual tracheotomy becomes necessary,

let us recharge the battery of the soul!

National crises, social chaos,

the collapse of church and family—

all stem from the failure of spiritual breath.

“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in good health,

just as your soul prospers.

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in the truth.” (3 John 1:2–4)

Let us restore our conscience

through CPR of the soul!
