The second Lectern Club of the term took place on Monday evening, continuing the cherished tradition that gives our Sixth Form speakers and beaks an intimate setting for dinner, discussion, and public speaking.

Hosted by the Master and Mrs Burbury, the students rose to the challenge of the theme: 'In the Blink of an Eye'.

Our students gave an insightful range of speeches that explored this prompt from diverse angles. Their speeches, both short and long, showcased impressive critical thinking and rhetorical skill, which is the hallmark of the Lectern Club. The discussion during the formal dinner that followed was lively and engaging.

A huge thank you and well done must go to every speaker for raising the bar. We are delighted to congratulate the evening’s two winners: Hailey M., who delivered the winning Short Speech, and Zhi Yi S., the winner of the Long Speech category.

Well done to all attendees for contributing to such a memorable and inspiring event.
