주간묵상 25-44

<기둥 없는 대들보>

양심과 신앙.

신앙 없는 양심은 세속적 도덕주의,

양심 없는 신앙은 광신이나 형식주의.

양심은 인간 내면에 새겨진

도덕적 인식 능력,

선과 악을 분별하고

선을 따르려는 내적 음성.

양심은 하나님의 계시에 대한

전인격적 응답.

신앙은 양심을 새롭게 하고,

양심을 정화하고,

양심은 신앙을 실천으로 이끌며,

양심은 신앙의 현실적 기준.

신앙은 성령의 조명을 통해

선악을 판단하게 하고

바른 방향으로 인도한다.

법과 양심.

법은 양심의 외적 울타리,

양심은 법의 내적 근거,

둘이 조화를 이룰 때

참된 정의가 확립된다.

법과 신앙.

법은 신앙의 외적 형태,

신앙은 법의 내적 정신,

둘이 조화를 이룰 때

정의는 생명으로.

율법은 사랑으로 완성된다.

법과 신앙과 양심의 조화

의와 평강과 희락의 삼각대.

하나님 나라의 국헌.

입법은 인간의 내적 도덕(양심)을

외적 질서(법)로 드러내어

공동선을 실현하려는 제도.

인간의 양심은

사회적 가치나

개인의 판단에 의해

왜곡될 수 있으나,

신앙은 양심을 초월한

하나님의 뜻으로만 교정.

이스라엘 법정에서

피고가 거짓말을 할 때

심증은 가나 증거가 없으면

판사는 피고에게

성경에 손을 얹고

‘맹세하겠는가?’ 를 묻는다.

뻔뻔스럽게 거짓말을 하다가도

피고는 자백을 한다.

그들의 신앙관은 다르다.

중죄를 범하였으나

증거가 없지만 탄로 나면

처벌을 받을 수밖에 없는 경우,

나는 성경에 손을 얹고

자백을 할 수 있을까?

서약을 하고도 지키지 않는

청문회나 국감장 요인들

우리를 비추는 거울 같다.

목사와 기독교인들은

기도를 많이 한다.

하나님께 서약과 같다.

서약을 하고도 행치 아니하면

반드시 책임과 처벌이 따른다.

신앙과 양심과 법이 바로 서면

이 사회는 천국이 된다.

신앙과 법이 없는 양심,

법과 양심이 없는 신앙,

양심과 신앙이 없는 법은

기둥 없는 대들보 같다.

<A Girder Without Pillars>

Conscience and faith.

A conscience without faith becomes secular moralism;

faith without conscience becomes fanaticism or hollow formalism.

Conscience is the moral faculty inscribed

in the depths of the human soul—

the inner voice that discerns good and evil

and urges us toward the good.

Conscience is the whole-person response

to the revelation of God.

Faith renews and purifies the conscience;

conscience leads faith into lived practice;

conscience is the concrete measure of faith.

Through the illumination of the Holy Spirit,

faith enables us to judge rightly

and guides us in the true direction.

Law and conscience.

Law is the outward boundary of conscience;

conscience is the inward foundation of law.

When the two harmonize,

true justice is established.

Law and faith.

Law is the external form of faith;

faith is the inner spirit of the law.

When the two harmonize,

justice becomes life,

and the law is fulfilled in love.

The harmony of law, faith, and conscience

is the tripod of righteousness, peace, and joy—

the constitutional order of the Kingdom of God.

Legislation is the process of expressing

the inner morality of the human conscience

as external social order

for the sake of the common good.

Human conscience can be distorted

by cultural values or individual judgment;

yet faith corrects conscience

only by the will of God,

which transcends both.

In the courts of Israel,

when an accused lies

and suspicion is strong but evidence lacking,

the judge asks the defendant

to place a hand upon Scripture

and swear before God.

Many who lied boldly until then

confess at that moment.

Their understanding of faith is different.

If I had committed a grave offense

without evidence to prove it,

but knowing truth would one day be revealed—

could I place my hand on the Bible

and confess?

At hearings and national audits,

public figures swear oaths

and yet do not keep them.

They are mirrors in which we see ourselves.

Pastors and believers pray often;

every prayer is an oath before God.

To vow and not act

invites responsibility and judgment.

If faith, conscience, and law stand upright,

society becomes heaven.

Conscience without faith and law,

faith without conscience and law,

law without conscience and faith—

are like a girder without pillars.
