Vocabulary & Expressions • Lease : 임대차 계약 Ex) A: how long is the lease on your apartment? 아파트 계약 기간이 어느 정도 되나요? (= How long is your lease?) B: my current lease is for one year. 일년 정도 됩니다. = My lease is for one year. = I have a one-year lease. = I’ve got a one-year lease. 당신은 집 계약이 언제 만료 되나요? My lease ends this coming October. • Can’t stand + 명사 or V(동사)ing : ~(무엇 무엇을) 참을 수 없다 Ex) 난 악취를 참을 수 없다 I can’t stand the foul smell. 난 누군가가 날 만지거나 건드리는 것을 참을 수 없어! Ex) 난 다른 사람에 대한 폭력을 참을 수 없어요. I can’t stand violence toward another human being. (=I can’t put up with violence toward another human being.) • Move out : 이사 나가다 (↔ Move in) Ex) do you want to move in with me? 너 우리집에 들어와서 같이 살래? • I thought you liked something: 네가 무엇 무엇을 좋아하는 줄 알았는데…. Ex) 난 네가 미국에서 사는 거 좋아하는 줄 알았는데… I thought you liked living in the US. 난 네가 지금 일하는 곳 좋아하는 줄 알았는데…. I thought you liked working there. • Afford : v. ~(무엇 무엇) 을 할 여유가 있다 Affordable :a. ~을 감당할 수 있는, 가격등이 알맞은 The rent is affordable : 렌트비 (집세)가 그리 비싸지 않고 낼만해. 적당해. My tuition is not affordable. 등록금이 너무 비싸서 못내겠어. Is your tuition affordable? 등록금 낼 만하니? Is your mortgage affordable? 융자금 낼 만 하니? • Commute: 통근하다 난 보통 집에서 회사까지 가는데 50분이 걸립니다. My morning commute takes about 50 minutes. 회사에 어떻게 출근하나요? How do you commute to work? 가끔은 걷기도 하지만, 거의 대부분은 지하철을 타고 옵니다. Sometimes I walk, but generally I go by metro. 집에서 회사까지 오는데는 보통 얼마나 걸리나요? How long is your commute? • My neighbors are killing me : 이웃집 사람들 때문에 죽겠다 (=My neighbors are driving me crazy!) (=My neighbors are driving me nuts!) ‘Something is killing me’, ~(무엇 무엇) 때문에 죽겠다는 뜻으로, 무엇 때문에 너무 힘들거나 괴로울 때 쓸 수 있는 영어 표현입니다. 예를 들어 ‘머리가 아파 죽겠어요’ ‘I have a severe headache’ 해도 되지만, ‘my head is killing me.’ 해도  됩니다. 또 어떤 음식이 너무 매울 때, ‘이거 너무 매워! 매워 죽겠어!’ 영어로 ‘This is so spicy.
