＜영어문법＞ 27. Can / Could / Would you…? (부탁,제의,허락,권유)

<사람들에게 부탁을 할 때>

사람들에게 어떤 일을 해달라고 부탁할 때 can 또는 could를 사용

■ Can you wait a minute, please?

■ Liz, can you do me a favor?

■ Excuse me, could you tell me how to get to the airport?

■ I wonder if you could help me.

Do you think you could…? 라고 하며 일반적으로 can을 사용하지 않음

■ Do you think you could lend me some money until next week?

부탁을 할 때 will과 would를 사용할 수도 있음 ( 하지만 can / could 를 일반적으로 더 많이 사용)

■ Liz, will you do me a favor?

■ Would you please be quiet? I'm trying to concentrate.

<물건을 달라고 요청할 때>

물건을 달라고 요청할 때 Can I have…? / Could I have…? / Can I get…?

■ Can I have these postcards, please?

■ Could I have the salt, please?

May I have…? 도 가능

■ May I have these postcards, please?

<허락을 구할 때>

어떤 일에 대해 허락을 요청할 때 can, could, may 사용 (may는 격식을 갖춘 표현)

■ Hello, can I speak to Tom, please?

■ Do you think I could borrow your bike?

■ May I come in?

허락을 구할 때 Do you mind if I…? 또는 Is it all right / Is it ok if I…? 를 사용

■ Do you mind if I use your phone?

■ Is it all right if I come in?

<제의할 때>

무엇을 해주겠다고 제의할 때 Can I…? / May I…? 사용 (may는 can보다 더 격식을 갖춘 표현)

■ Can I get you a cup of coffee?

■ May I help you?

<권유할 때>

무엇인가를 제공하거나 권유할 때 Would you like…? 사용

■ Would you like a cup of coffee?

■ Would you like to go to the movies with us tonight?

원하는 것을 공손하게 말할 때는 I'd like… 사용

■ I'd like some information about hotels, please.

■ I'd like to try on this jacket, please.
