유럽의 Buyer들과 D/P, D/A Collection 거래를 하시는데 수출상인 귀사가 서류를 발송하면서 환어음을 발행하지 않도록 요구하는 경우가 있다구요?

그 이유는 Stamp duty 때문입니다. 환어음의 인수대신에 Letter of Undertaking (지급확약서)을 발급해 달라고 요구하면 됩니다. 그 쪽의 학생들도 다음과 같이 배우기때문에 모두 잘 압니다.

The Letters of Undertaking Instead of the Drafts

In certain exporting countries, the government levy a heavy tax on drafts. In such a circumstance, the importer may specify in his/her purchase order (P.O.) that "No drafts be issued". When the documents are presented, the importer issues a letter of undertaking indicating when and where the money will be paid, instead of accepting a draft drawn by the exporter.
