John the Baptist and Jesus, when they first preached the gospel, said, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” It emphasizes that repentance is important, and it means to repent and accept heaven. The heaven referred to here means Jesus. Because only by accepting Jesus can one enter heaven. Therefore, the most important thing in the life of faith is repentance. But today’s church has become doctrinal-centered and emphasizes only faith. However, in the Bible, it is not only faith, but repentance and faith. Therefore, the church must call out for repentance. And you must actually lead the saints to repentance. The prophets of the Old Testament cried out for repentance. Therefore, pastors must preach the Word that is inspired by the Holy Spirit so that the believers may repent. What God desires from fallen humanity is that they repent and return to Him. It is not simply telling them to believe, study the Bible, and go to church, but to repent, change their thinking, and return to God. Therefore, those who want to believe in Jesus and go to heaven must first repent and believe the gospel. The parable of the prodigal son Jesus told is about a son who left home, repented, and returned to his father’s house. If you do not repent, you cannot return. Therefore, God is waiting for us to repent and return. A person who has turned away from God has no way of returning to Him unless they repent. Without repentance, a fallen person has no way of being transformed. There is no way to overcome sin without repentance. However, there are also those who do not repent, only believe, and diligently attend church all their lives. There are few people in the church today who repent, cut off their sins, and sincerely seek to believe. The reason is that the pastors emphasized faith alone and did not emphasize repentance. I have been going to church for a long time, but I am not repenting. Therefore, what the church needs most today is repentance. Those who repent and believe will be saved, and those who believe without repenting will be destroyed. Therefore, while I am still alive, I must not miss the opportunity to repent and must repent. Also, through the parable of the rich man and the beggar Lazarus, Jesus asked that Lazarus be raised from the dead, taken to our home, so that our brothers and sisters might understand and repent. However, Abraham said that those who are alive must hear the Law of Moses and the words of the prophets, and repent.
