신임 전영현부회장은 2012년 메모리사업부장을 맡아 D램과 낸드플래시를 세계1위로 끌어올린 사람입니다.

전임 경계현사장은 전부회장이 맡고있던 미래사업기획단장으로 전보되었습니다.

신임 전부회장이 위기의 삼성전자 반도체부문을 다시 발전시키기를 기대합니다.

Samsung Electronics effected a sudden leadership change in the device solutions (DS) division, responsible for its semiconductor business, saying the move was made to revitalize the atmosphere amid sluggish performance in its chip business, the company said Tuesday. 삼성전자가 반도체 사업을 담당하는 디바이스솔루션(DS) 사업부의 갑작스러운 리더십 변화에 대해 "반도체 사업의 부진 속에서 분위기를 활성화하기 위한 조치였다"고 9일(현지시간) 밝혔다.

The chip giant said that Jun Young-hyun, vice chairman and head of the future business division, has been appointed as the new leader of the DS division, stating that the leadership change was intended to strengthen the competitiveness of the semiconductor business in an uncertain internal and external business environment.
이 반도체 대기업은 이번 리더십 교체가 불확실한 대내외 경영환경 속에서 반도체 사업의 경쟁력을 강화하기 위한 것이라며 DS부문 신임 리더로 전영현 부회장 겸 미래사업단장이 선임됐다고 밝혔다.

President Kyung Kye-hyun, who has led the DS division, will become the head of the future business division as well as the head of Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology. Samsung said Kyung is expected to focus on finding new growth opportunities based on his expertise leading the chip business.
DS부문을 이끌어온 경계현 사장은 삼성종합기술원장 겸 미래사업단장이 된다. 삼성은 경사장이 칩 사업을 주도하는 전문성을 바탕으로 신성장 기회 발굴에 주력할 것으로 보인다고 밝혔다.

Under the new leadership, Samsung is determined to enhance its technological edge and future competitiveness in chip business by pursuing innovation in its business.
삼성전자는 새로운 리더십 아래 사업 혁신을 추구함으로써 칩 사업의 기술력과 미래 경쟁력을 강화하겠다는 의지를 보이고 있다.

"Vice Chairman Jun is expected to overcome the semiconductor crisis based on his extensive management know-how he has gained by growing Samsung's memory chip and battery businesses to the top level," Samsung said.
삼성 측은 "전 부회장이 삼성의 메모리칩과 배터리 사업을 최고 수준으로 성장시키며 쌓은 폭넓은 경영 노하우를 바탕으로 반도체 위기를 극복할 것으로 기대된다"고 밝혔다.

The new semiconductor chief led Samsung's memory business as president from 2014 to 2016, spearheading the company's memory chip business.
신임 반도체 부문장은 2014년부터 2016년까지 삼성의 메모리 사업을 이끌며 메모리 반도체 사업을 주도했다.

He then served as CEO of Samsung's battery subsidiary, Samsung SDI, for five years before being appointed vice chairman of Samsung Electronics' future business division last year.
이어 삼성 배터리 자회사인 삼성SDI 대표이사를 5년간 역임한 뒤 지난해 삼성전자 미래사업단장, 부회장으로 선임됐다.

Samsung plans to proceed with the appointment of Jun as a board director and CEO through the regular shareholders' meeting and board meeting next year.
삼성은 내년 정기 주주총회와 이사회를 통해 전 부회장의 이사 겸 대표이사 선임을 진행할 계획이다.

Samsung expects Kyung, with his experience as CEO of Samsung Electro-Mechanics and CEO of the DS division, to contribute to discovering future growth opportunities for Samsung Electronics and its affiliates using his network and experience.
삼성은 삼성전기 대표이사와 DS부문 대표이사 경험이 있는 경 대표가 네트워크와 경험을 활용해 삼성전자와 계열사의 미래 성장기회를 발굴하는 데 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다.
