주간묵상 26-18

〈천국과 지옥은 0.1mm〉

솜 한 근과,

철 한 근,

어느 것이 더 무거울까.

어리석은 질문 같지만

그런 착각 속에 산다.

같은 문제 앞에서

누구는 무너지고

누구는 이러난다.

십리도 못 가서

쓰러지는 사람,

백리를 달리고도

십리를 더 달리는 사람.

같은 시간,

같은 장소,

같은 현실에서

누군가는 울고

누군가는 노래한다.

같은 돌이

누구에게는 바위

누구에게는 공깃돌.

도마 위의 칼,

아기에게는 흉기지만

엄마에게는 기쁨을 주는

요리의 도구.

정상체온 36.5도,

조금만 벗어나도

생명은 위태롭다.

믿음의 온도가 무너지면

삶도 함께 흔들린다.

이 세상은

누군가에게 지옥

누군가에게는 천국

믿음의 차이다.

천국과 지옥의 거리는

단지 0.1mm 마음의 차이.

그러므로

주님과 함께라면

세상은 축복의 땅

삶은 기쁨의 날들

환난 중에도 감사로 충만

죽음은 영광의 대문.

그리스도는

나그네이정표.

무시하면

지름길 같아도 낭떠러지

말씀대로 가면

십자가의 길이지만

영원한 생명의 길.

만 미터 상공 항공기

바깥은 영하 칠십 도,

안은 쾌적한 이십오 도.

같은 상공, 전혀 다른 온도.

안팎의 차이

삶에도 신앙의 안팎이 있다.

선교지 오가며

솜털 같은 구름 위를 날 때마다

문득 뛰어내리고픈 충동도 느낀다.

그러나 언제나 승무원의 도움을 받으며

고급 음료와 음식도 먹으며

영하70도 상공에서도 포근히 잠을 잔다.

“너희가 내 안에 거하고 내 말이

너희 안에 거하면 무엇이든지 원하는 대로

구하라 그리하면 이루리라.”(요 15:7)

〈Heaven and Hell Are 0.1 mm Apart〉

A pound of cotton,

and a pound of iron-

which is heavier?

It sounds like a foolish question,

yet we live within such illusions.

Before the same problem,

one collapses,

another rises.

Some fall before walking ten miles,

while others run a hundred

and go ten more.

In the same time,

the same place,

the same reality-

someone weeps,

someone sings.

The same stone-

to one, a rock,

to another, a pebble.

A knife on the cutting board-

to a child, a weapon,

but to a mother, a tool that

brings joy through cooking.

Normal body temperature: 36.5°C.

Just a slight deviation,

and life is in danger.

When the temperature of faith collapses,

life itself begins to shake.

This world-

to some, hell;

to others, heaven.

The difference is faith.

The distance between heaven and hell

is only 0.1 mm-

a difference of the heart.

Therefore,

if we are with the Lord,

this world becomes a land of blessing,

life becomes days of joy,

even in tribulation we are filled with gratitude,

and death becomes the gateway to glory.

Christ

is the signpost for pilgrims.

Ignore Him-

and what seems like a shortcut

leads to a cliff.

Follow His Word-

and though it is the way of the cross,

it is the path to eternal life.

At 10,000 meters above the ground,

outside the aircraft it is –70°C,

inside, a comfortable 25°C.

The same altitude,

yet completely different temperatures.

The difference between inside and outside-

so it is with faith in life.

As I travel to and from mission fields,

flying above clouds like cotton,

I sometimes feel an impulse to jump out.

Yet always, with the help of the crew,

enjoying fine food and drink,

I sleep peacefully

even at –70°C in the sky.

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”

(John 15:7)

Heaven and hell are only 0.1 mm apart.
