Chapter 1

 1: 1  After the death of Joshua, the Israelites asked the LORD,

"Who will be the first to go up and fight for us against the Canaanites?"

후우위으어 비이ㅎ드어 ㅍ흐어스투 고우어팬 ㅍ화잇 ㅍ호어러써게인스 ㅎ드어 캐이너나잇츠

 1: 2  The LORD answered,

       ㅎ드얼로엇 앤쓰우워엇

"Judah is to go; I have given the land into their hands."

 주우다 이즈 투 고우 아이 햅ㅎ 깁흔 ㅎ드얼랜 인투 ㅎ드에어 해앤즈

 1: 3  Then the men of Judah said to the Simeonites their brothers,

       ㅎ드엔 ㅎ드어 메나 주우다 ?? 투 ㅎ드어 씨이므으어나이츠 ㅎ드에어 브우?N드어스

"Come up with us into the territory allotted to us,

 카   멉   우위러스 인투 ㅎ드어 트에뤄터뤼 얼라팃 투 어스

to fight against the Canaanites.

투 ㅍ화잇 어게인스 ㅎ드어 캐이너나이츠

We in turn will go with you into yours."

So the Simeonites went with them.

 1: 4  When Judah attacked,

the LORD gave the Canaanites and Perizzites into their hands and

they struck down ten thousand men at Bezek.

and cut off his thumbs and big toes.

 1: 7  Then Adoni-Bezek said,

"Seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off

have picked up scraps under my table.

Now God has paid me back for what I did to them."

They put the city to the sword and set it on fire.

 1: 9  After that, the men of Judah went down to fight

       ?炸樣?어 ㅎ드앳 ㅎ드어메나 주우다 우원 다운 투 ㅍ화잇

against the Canaanites living in the hill country,

어게인스 ㅎ드어 캐이너나이츨리입힝 인 ㅎ드어 히으어 크언추뤼

the Negev and the western foothills.

ㅎ드어 네겝ㅎ 앤 ㅎ드어 우웨스뜨언 ㅍ훗히으얼스

 1:10  They advanced against the Canaanites living in Hebron

       ㅎ드에이 엇ㅂ휀스러게인스 ㅎ드어 캐이너나이츨리입힝 히부??

(formerly called Kiriath Arba)

ㅍ호어므어을리 코오으얼ㄷ 키뤼?j뜨 아어버

and defeated Sheshai, Ahiman and Talmai.

 1:11  From there they advanced against the people living in Debir

       ㅍ후?? ㅎ드에어 ㅎ드에이 엇ㅂ휀스러게인스ㅎ드어 피프오으얼리입힝 인 디브어 

(formerly called Kiriath Sepher).

ㅍ호어므어을리 코오으얼ㄷ 키뤼?j뜨 ?洸孃?

 1:12  And Caleb said,

       앤  캐일럽  ??

"I will give my daughter Acsah in marriage to the man

아이 우위으어 깁ㅎ 마이 다아르어 액써 인 메륏쥐 투 ㅎ드어 맨

who attacks and captures Kiriath Sepher."

 1:13  Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother,

took it; so Caleb gave his daughter Acsah to him in marriage.

 1:14  One day when she came to Othniel,

she urged him to ask her father for a field.

When she got off her donkey, Caleb asked her,

"What can I do for you?"

 1:15  She replied,

"Do me a special favor.

Since you have given me land in the Negev,

씬  슈    햅ㅎ  깁흔  미일랜  인 ㅎ드어 네겝ㅎ

give me also springs of water."

깁흔 미이 올쏘우 스쁘우륑싸 우워르어

Then Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs.

ㅎ드엠 캐일럽 게입ㅎ ㅎ드어 ㅎ디 어프어 앤 을로우어 스쁘우륑스

 1:16  The descendants of Moses' father-in-law,

       ㅎ드어 디쎈던차 모우지즈  ㅍ화ㅎ드어 인 을로

the Kenite,

ㅎ드어 케나잇

went up from the City of Palms with the men of Judah to live among

우원 텁 ㅍ후?? ㅎ드어 씨디 아 팜스 우윗 ㅎ드어 메나 주우다 툴리입ㅎ 어몽

the people of the Desert of Judah in the Negev near Arad.

ㅎ드어 피프오으어 아 ㅎ드어 데즈어라 주우다 인 ㅎ드어 네겝ㅎ 니으어 어??

 1:17  Then the men of Judah went with the Simeonites

        ㅎ드엔 ㅎ드어 메나 주우다 우원 우윗 ㅎ드어 씨이므으나이츠

their brothers and attacked the Canaanites living in Zephath,

ㅎ드에어 브우?N드어쌘 어태낏 ㅎ드어 캐이너나이츨리입힝 인 즈잎?S뜨

and they totally destroyed the city.

앤 ㅎ드에이 토우럴리 디그추로잇 ㅎ드어 씨디

Therefore it was called Hormah.

 1:18  The men of Judah also took Gaza,

       ㅎ드어 메나 주우다 올쏘우 툭 그아즈어

Ashkelon and Ekron--each city with its territory.

애슈켈런 앤   에크우?? 이취 씨디 우윗 이츠 테르어터뤼

 1:19  The LORD was with the men of Judah.

       ㅎ드얼로엇 우워즈 우윗 ㅎ드어 메나 주우다

They took possession of the hill country,

ㅎ드에이 툭 퍼즈에셔나 ㅎ드어 히으얼 크언추뤼

but they were unable to drive the people from the plains,

버ㅎ드에이 우워어 어네이브오으어 투 주롸입ㅎ ㅎ드어 피프오으어 ㅍ후?? ㅎ드어 플레인즈

because they had iron chariots.

비카즈 ㅎ드에이 해라이언 추애뤼엇

 1:20  As Moses had promised,

       애즈 모우지즈 햇 프우롸미슷

Hebron was given to Caleb,

히이브우?? 우워즈 깁흔 투 캐일럽

who drove from it the three sons of Anak.

 1:21  The Benjamites, however, failed to dislodge the Jebusites,

who were living in Jerusalem;

 1:22  Now the house of Joseph attacked Bethel,

and the LORD was with them.

 1:23  When they sent men to spy out Bethel (formerly called Luz),

  우웬 ㅎ드에이 쎈 멘 투 스빠이 아웃 브??뜨에으어  ㅍ호어므으어을리 코오으얼ㄷ 을루즈

 1:24  the spies saw a man coming out of the city and they said to him,

   ㅎ드어 스빠이즈 쏘우 어 맨 카밍 아우라 ㅎ드어 씨디 앤 ㅎ드에이 ?? 투 힘

"Show us how to get into the city

슈오우 어스 하우 투 게린투 ㅎ드어 씨디

and we will see that you are treated well."

앤 위 우위으어 씨이 ㅎ드애츄 아 추뤼이팃 우웨으어

 1:25  So he showed them, and they put the city to the sword

       쏘우 히 슈오웃 ㅎ드엠 앤  ㅎ드에이 푸ㅎ드어 씨디 투 ㅎ드어 스우워엇

but spared the man and his whole family.

벗 스뻬으엇 ㅎ드어 매낸 히스 호우으어 ㅍ?z을리

 1:26  He then went to the land of the Hittites,

       히 ㅎ드엔 우원투 ㅎ드얼랜 아 ㅎ드어 히타이츠

where he built a city and called it Luz,

우웨어 히 비으얼터 씨디 앤 코오으얼릿 을루즈

which is its name to this day.

우위취 이지츠 느에임 투 ㅎ드이스 드에이

 1:27  But Manasseh did not drive out the people of Beth Shan

       벗 머내쓰어 딧 느앗 주롸입ㅎ 아우 ㅎ드어 피프오으어 아 브??뜨 슈언

or Taanach or Dor or Ibleam or Megiddo

오어 티어낵 오어 도오어 오어 이블리임 오어 메기로 

and their surrounding settlements,

앤 ㅎ드에어 써우롸운드잉 쎄를먼츠

for the Canaanites were determined to live in that land.

ㅍ호어 ㅎ드어 캐이너나이츠 우워어 디트어미인ㄷ 툴리입ㅎ 인 ㅎ드앳 을랜

 1:28  When Israel became strong,

they pressed the Canaanites into forced labor

ㅎ드에이 프우뤠슷 ㅎ드어 캐이너나이츠 인투 ㅍ호어씻 을레브오어

but never drove them out completely.

 1:29  Nor did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites living in Gezer,

        노오어 디??후뤼엄 주롸입ㅎ 아우 ㅎ드어 캐이너나이츨리입힝 인 그이즈어

but the Canaanites continued to live there among them.

 1:30  Neither did Zebulun drive out

       니?永孃? 딧  즈에블런 주롸입ㅎ 아웃

the Canaanites living in Kitron or Nahalol,

ㅎ드어 캐이너나이츨리입힝 인 킷우?? 오어 내이헐런

who remained among them; but they did subject them to forced labor.

 1:31  Nor did Asher drive out those living in Acco

or Sidon or Ahlab or Aczib or Helbah or Aphek or Rehob,

오어 싸이든 오어 알랍 오어 악즈입 오어 흐에으얼버 오어 에잎헥 오어 우뤼합

 1:32  and because of this the people of Asher lived

       앤 비카     자 ㅎ드이스 ㅎ드어 피프오으어 라 애슈으얼리입흣

among the Canaanite inhabitants of the land.

어몽 ㅎ드어 캐이너나이츠 인해비런차 ㅎ드얼랜

 1:33  Neither did Naphtali drive out those living in

       니?永孃? 딧 ?Xㅎ틀라이 주롸입ㅎ 아우 ㅎ도즐리입힝인

Beth Shemesh or Beth Anath;

브??뜨 슈에머쉬 오어 브??떼이낳뜨

but the Naphtalites too lived among the Canaanite inhabitants of the land,

버 ㅎ드어 ?Xㅎ틀라이츠 투울리입흣 어몽 ㅎ드ㅓ 캐이너나이츠 인해비런차 ㅎ드얼랜

and those living in Beth Shemesh

앤 ㅎ도즐리입힝 인 브??뜨 수에머쉬

and Beth Anath became forced laborers for them.

앤 브??떼이낳뜨 비케임 ㅍ호어씻 을레이브오어러스 ㅍ호어 ㅎ드엠

 1:34  The Amorites confined the Danites to the hill country,

       ㅎ디  애모롸이츠 컨ㅍ화인ㄷ ㅎ드어 대나이츠 투 ㅎ드어 히으어 크언추뤼

not allowing them to come down into the plain.

느아럴라우잉 ㅎ드엠 투 캄  다우닌투 ㅎ드어 플레인

1:35  And the Amorites were determined also to hold out in Mount Heres,

    앤 ㅎ디 애모롸이츠 우워어 디트어민ㄷ 올쏘우 투 호우으얼다우린 마운ㅌ 히으어뤼어스

Aijalon and Shaalbim,

but when the power of the house of Joseph increased,
