2> An Important Truth We Must Not Forget Until We Die <Summary> Matthew 23:25–26. 2026.8.9 <Sunday> Osaka Sarang Church, Pastor Kim Ho-il.   There are four important truths we must not forget until we die. 1>Repentance. 2> A holy mind <cleanliness of the mind>, that is, the fruit of the Holy Spirit. 3>Forgiveness. 4> It’s Jesus’ love. 1> Repentance is realizing one’s own faults and turning back to God. Those who have accepted Jesus and been saved are those who repent, struggle, and overcome their sins. Do not take sin lightly; if you have sinned, repent quickly and receive forgiveness.   2> Sacred heart. It is “cleanliness of the mind,” that is, the fruit of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ time, the scribes and Pharisees lived lives that outwardly appeared holy, but inwardly they were like foul-smelling tombs, and Jesus rebuked them as hypocrites. God said, “I am holy; Therefore you must also be holy.” Because God is holy, we should long to possess a holy heart—that is, a pure heart, the fruit of the Holy Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is becoming more like Jesus. God wants those who are saved to become like Jesus. God is the One who examines not only our words and actions but also our hearts. If we want to believe in and serve such a God, we must pray that we may bear holy fruit—that is, a holy heart that bears the fruit of the Holy Spirit, or a pure heart. God is not satisfied with us becoming devoted servants, and He wants us to become His children and holy people like Jesus. So Jesus first preached the good news, and then rebuked the hypocritical faith of the scribes and Pharisees, saying, “Corruption will be your punishment.” In other words, you were saying I would be thrown into the flames of hell. It means that the heart and thoughts are more important than their words and actions. However, it is not easy for a fallen human to become sacred. Therefore, we must strive to become believers who, through repentance and prayer and with the help of the Holy Spirit, bear the fruit of the Spirit. In fact, the purity of the mind—the fruit of the Spirit, the fruit of the Spirit—is not made by our own strength or resolve, but is made possible only by the power of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit helps those who repent and long for Him to bear the fruit of the Spirit. To overcome the sins of the heart, you must always pray and stay awake. Otherwise, Jesus said that one cannot overcome sin. People who trust God, believe that He lives, and believe in His power pray. You have to believe that if you trust and pray, it will surely come true. If God helps you, blesses you, heals you, prays for you, and proclaims, then it will be done according to your faith. That is why faith is important, and those who believe pray. God helps those who pray. He said that if we do not pray, we cannot overcome sin, so we must always pray and remain vigilant. When we pray, with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can bear the fruit of the Spirit and purify our hearts.
