9. Wind over Heaven : Small Restraint.
▣ Six in the Fourth Line : If one possesses sincerity(trust).
the pain of blood(danger/anxiety) departs and fearful apprehension leaves,
so there will be no blame.
[Explanation]
Six in the Fourth Line : If one possesses sincerity(trust).
the pain of blood(bloodshed/anxiety) will vanish and fearful apprehension will depart,
so there will be no blame.
[Commentary]
Although it is Xiao Chu(小畜,소축 - Small Restraint),
it is a demanding situation for the Fourth Line 4, who must lead the way.
Internally, there is a harmonious partner, the lnitial Nine [
Backed by popular support from the bottom, the Fourth Line must assist the ruler,
Nine in the Fifth Line 5―who cannot even manage a single restraint alone―to achieve
successful cultivation(畜成,축성).
This is like the position of King Wen, who had todemonstrate absolute loyalty
with trust and sincerity.
In other worlds, only by demonstrating infinite trust toward King Zhou(紂王,주왕)
could danger and fear be resolved.
Only by possessing such sincerity [有孚,유부] can one prevent greater worries about
resolving the stagnant blood(瘀血,어혈) of the disgruntled populace,
and send away fear as well [血去惕出,혈거척출], thereby leaving no fault [无咎,무구].
Confucius's commenrary also notes that having sincerity and letting fear depart means
prioritizing unity of purpose with the ruler above:[象曰 有孚惕出上合志也, 상왈 유부척출상합지야]."
Here, the example of Duke Zhou assisting King Cheng(成王,성왕) to place
the Zhou Dynasty on a solid foundation is also cited.
Wang Bi viewed '血去(혈거 - blood departs)' separatelt, interpreting the seeing of blood
as a result of the Third Line blocking the Fourth Line's path toward the linitial Nine[初九,초구],
causing a bloody conflict.
However, the core issue for Six in the Fourth Line[六四,육사] lies in its relationship with the ruler,
the Fifth Line 5.
The key point is how the Fourth Line, in a subordinate position, can actively persuade, unite,
absorb, and lead Nine in the Fifth Line [九五,구오], who holds thr dominant role in Xiao Chu.
Therefore, through the harmony and cooperation of Yin and Yang(陰陽,음양) ,
the Fourth Line must be cautious not to damage or endanger the master-servant relationship.
As an example, if Zhuge Liang had not gained the complete trust of Liu Shan(劉禪,유선),
he would not have been able to fully exert his abilities to fulfill his duty of supporting the throne.
Therefore, when the intentions of supperiors and subordinates harmonize,
the family becomes harmonious and all matters flourish,
serving as the foundation of completing things well from start to finish
As a note, althuogh difficult events may arise in any form and lead to bloodshed,
there will ultimately be no major trouble.
