주간묵상 26-29

〈움직여야 한다.〉

지구는 태양을 중심으로 돌고

전자는 원자핵을 중심으로 움직이며

혈액은 심장을 중심으로 흐른다.

하나님께서 지으신 세계는

모두 움직이며 살아간다.

멈춤은 죽음이다.

성인의 혈관 길이는

약 10만~12만km.

지구를 두세 바퀴 돌 수 있는 길이.

심장에서 나온 혈액이

약 20초 만에 온몸을 돌고

다시 심장으로 돌아온다.

심장은 쉬지 않는다.

피는 심장을 중심으로

평생 순환한다.

단 한 곳만 막혀도

뇌졸중, 심근경색, 조직 괴사,

사망진단은 최종

심장동작여부로 정한다.

움직임이 멈추면

생명도 끝난다.

믿음은 생각이 아니다.

믿음은 생명이다.

생명은 움직인다.

기도가 사랑으로 흐르고,

사랑이 봉사로 이어지고,

봉사가 희생으로 열매 맺을 때

믿음은 살아 있다.

지난주 연일철야 등

과로로 인한 일시적 고혈압으로

응급실에 입원하였다.

가장 먼저 시행한 것은

혈액검사였다.

의사는 피를 통해

몸 전체의 상태를 살핀다.

생명이 제대로 움직이고 있는지를

확인하는 것이다.

움직이지 않는 물은 썩고,

움직이지 않는 피는 죽으며,

움직이지 않는 믿음도 죽는다.

지구가 태양을 중심으로 돌듯,

피가 심장을 중심으로 흐르듯,

성도의 삶도

예수 그리스도를 중심으로

끊임없이 움직일 때

생명을 유지한다.

모든 운동에는

반드시 중심축이 있다

신앙도 마찬가지이다.

예수 그리스도를 중심에서 잃으면

아무리 바쁘게 움직여도

그것은 생명의 운동이 아니라

방황일 뿐이다.

십자가는 장식이 아니다.

입술의 구호도 아니다.

십자가는 사랑이 움직이는 삶이며,

봉사는 흐르는 삶이며,

자신을 내어주는 생명의 운동이다.

혈액순환이 육체의 생명이라면

믿음은 영혼의 혈액순환이다.

사람의 제일 된 목적은

하나님을 영화롭게 하는 제물 되는 것,

죽은 것은 절대 제물이 될 수 없다.

"영혼 없는 몸이 죽은 것 같이 행함이 없는 믿음은 죽은 것이니라." (약 2:26)

〈We Must Keep Moving〉

The earth revolves around the sun,

electrons move around the atomic nucleus,

and blood flows from and returns to the heart.

Everything in the world God created

moves and lives.

To cease moving is to die.

The blood vessels in an adult body

measure approximately 100,000 to 120,000 kilometers-

long enough to circle the earth

two or three times.

Blood pumped from the heart

travels throughout the entire body

in about twenty seconds

and returns to the heart again.

The heart never rests.

Throughout our lifetime,

blood continues to circulate

with the heart at its center.

If even one passage becomes blocked,

it may result in a stroke,

a heart attack, or tissue death.

Ultimately, death is determined

by whether the heart has ceased to function.

When movement stops,

life also comes to an end.

Faith is not merely a thought.

Faith is life.

And life moves.

When prayer flows into love,

love leads to service,

and service bears the fruit of sacrifice,

faith is alive.

Last week,

after several consecutive nights without sleep

and excessive work,

I was hospitalized in the emergency room

with temporarily elevated blood pressure.

The first examination performed

was a blood test.

Through the blood,

the physician examines

the condition of the entire body.

It is a way of determining

whether life is moving as it should.

Water that does not move becomes stagnant.

Blood that does not flow brings death.

Faith that does not move is also dead.

As the earth revolves around the sun,

and as blood flows with the heart at its center,

the life of a believer

can remain spiritually alive

only when it continually moves

with Jesus Christ at its center.

Every movement

must have a central axis.

The same is true of faith.

If we lose Jesus Christ

from the center of our lives,

then no matter how busily we may move,

our movement is not the movement of life—

it is merely wandering.

The cross is not an ornament.

Nor is it merely a slogan on our lips.

The cross is a life in which love moves.

Service is a life that continues to flow.

Giving oneself for others

is the movement of life.

If the circulation of blood

sustains the life of the body,

faith is the lifeblood

that sustains the soul.

The chief purpose of humanity

is to become a living offering

that glorifies God.

That which is dead

can never become an offering.

“As the body without the spirit is dead,

so faith without deeds is dead.”

(James 2:26)
