주간묵상 26-31

〈신앙의 혈압〉

진리는 분명해야 하고

진리를 전하는

마음은 따뜻해야 하며,

믿음은 뜨거워야 하지만

사람을 태워서는 안 되고,

빛은 밝아야 하지만

사람의 눈을 멀게 해서는 안 되며,

불은 제단 위에서 타야지

이웃의 집을 태워서는 안 된다.

지난 몇 주 동안에

응급실 신세를 여러 번,

설명하기 복잡하고

목사도 납득하기 어려운

차세대 선교전략의

연구와 계획과 준비로

과로와 불면에 의한 고혈압,

혈압 약 무시도 큰 원인.

눈이 침침하고

주변이 팽이처럼 돌고

머리가 무겁고

심한 통증과 무기력하고

어지러워 쓰러지며

일어설 수 없는 상황

응급조치를 한 후

믿음의 혈압을 묵상해 본다.

믿음의 열정,

복음을 위한 헌신,

진리를 지키려는 용기,

영혼을 사랑하는 뜨거움은

믿음을 살아 움직이게 하는

거룩한 혈압이다.

심장에서 전신에 보내는

혈액의 압력이

적절해야한데

고혈압도 문제지만

저혈압은 더 큰 문제다.

도를 넘어

이단 사이비에 빠져

부모도 가족도

이웃도 나 몰라라 하는

고르반 적인 신앙,

윤리와 도덕을 외면하고

법과 질서를 무시하는 자세,

열심은 대단해도 목적이 다르거나

속도는 빨라도 목표가 다른

신앙적 고혈압이 있고.

반면에(마 11:17)

피리를 불어도 춤추지 않고

슬피 울어도 가슴을 치지 않는

무반응 개인주의 냉소주의

차지도 덥지도 않는

미지근한 앉은뱅이믿음.

피가 돌지 않는 몸처럼

차갑고 무기력한

저혈압환자도 있다.

일명 광신자(?)

이성과 지성을 잃은 열성

기복주의, 이기주의 등

말씀과 성령으로

고혈압치료를 받아야 하고,

무관심 무사안일 개인주의 등

역시 사랑과 헌신과 봉사로

저혈압치료를 받아야-

영적혈압 상비약

“오직 사랑 안에서 참된 것을 하여 범사에 그에게까지 자랄지라 그는 머리니 곧 그리스도라”(엡 4:15)

〈The Blood Pressure of Faith〉

Truth must be clear,

but the heart that speaks the truth

must be warm.

Faith must burn with passion,

but it must not scorch others.

Light must shine brightly,

but it must not blind their eyes.

Fire must burn upon the altar,

not set a neighbor’s house ablaze.

Over the past few weeks,

I have ended up in the emergency room several times.

Researching, planning, and preparing

a next-generation mission strategy—

one too complex to explain

and difficult even for pastors to grasp—

led to overwork, sleeplessness,

and dangerously high blood pressure.

Ignoring my blood pressure medication

was also a major cause.

My vision grew dim,

the room spun like a top,

my head felt heavy,

and severe pain and weakness overwhelmed me.

Dizzy, I collapsed

and could no longer stand.

After receiving emergency treatment,

I began to reflect

on the blood pressure of faith.

Passion for faith,

devotion to the gospel,

courage to defend the truth,

and a burning love for souls—

these are the holy blood pressure

that keeps faith alive and moving.

The pressure that sends blood

from the heart throughout the body

must remain at a proper level.

High blood pressure is dangerous,

but low blood pressure

can be even more dangerous.

There is a kind of spiritual hypertension:

faith that goes beyond all bounds,

falls into heresy and false religion,

and disregards parents, family,

and neighbors—

a “Corban-like” faith

that neglects ethics and morality

and ignores law and order;

a faith whose zeal may be impressive

but whose purpose is misguided,

whose speed may be swift

but whose destination is wrong.

On the other hand,

there are those who do not dance

when the flute is played,

and do not mourn

when a lament is sung.

There is the unresponsive faith

of individualism and cynicism—

neither cold nor hot,

but lukewarm and crippled.

Like a body through which

the blood no longer flows,

such faith is cold and powerless—

a patient suffering

from spiritual hypotension.

So-called fanaticism,

zeal that has lost reason and wisdom,

prosperity-centered faith,

and religious selfishness

must receive treatment for hypertension

through the Word and the Holy Spirit.

Indifference, complacency,

and self-centered individualism

must likewise receive treatment

for hypotension

through love, devotion, and service.

The essential medicine

for spiritual blood pressure:

“Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.” (Ephesians 4:15)
