(Hebrews 9:27) Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
God, we love you.
God, we thank you.
<Body>
(Hebrews 9:27) Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
Death does not visit the old persons only. There is no sequence for death to visit people.
The senior citizens who live near death look well prepared to welcome death.
The visit of death without any prior notice makes us puzzled a lot.
It is so powerful for nobody to evade from it.
Therefore, all of us must prepare the day that we stand trial for God’s judgment.
It means that death is the new beginning of our lives.
1. What happens after your death?
1) Man is destined to die once
(Hebrews 9:27) Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
2) Man is destined to face judgment after death.
After death, everybody is destined to face judgment: eternal life or eternal punishment.
People know the existence of death but tend not to believe the existence of judgment.
Believing, however, doe not mean no existence. Surely, the judgment is waiting for us.
(Matthew 25:46) "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."
3) Those under eternal punishment descend into hell or the second death.
People under eternal punishment go into hell: that is the second death.
(Luke 16:23) In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side.
(Mark 9:48) where " 'their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.'
(Mark 9:43) If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out.
4) Those for eternal life go to paradise or millennial kingdom or kingdom of God.
(Luke 23:43) Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."
(Revelation 20:6) Blessed and holy are those who have part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.
(Revelation 21:2) I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.
2. Who will be under God’s judgment?
1) People who do not believe.
(2 Thessalonians 1:8) He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
(2 Thessalonians 2:12) and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.
2) Christians who have wrong creeds.
① Those who believe God in hypocrisy
(Matthew 23:1-7 and 33) [1] Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: [2] "The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. [3] So you must obey them and do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. [4] They tie up heavy loads and put them on men's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them. [5] "Everything they do is done for men to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long; [6] they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; [7] they love to be greeted in the marketplaces and to have men call them 'Rabbi.' [33] "You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?"
② Those who are unfaithful to God and Jesus
(Matthew 25:26, 28 and 30) [26] "His master replied, 'You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? [28] " 'Take the talent from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents. [30] And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' "
③ Those who belong to the goats
(Matthew 25:33 and 41-43) [33] "He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left." [41] "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. [42] For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, [43] I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.' "
④ Those who are evil-doers.
(Revelation 21:8) "But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars--their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death."
⑤ Those who experienced the Grace of the Holy Spirit but fell away from truth
(Hebrews 6:4-6) [4] It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, [5] who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, [6] if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.
(Acts 6:5) This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism.
(Revelation 2:6) "But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate."
(Revelation 2:15) "Likewise you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans."
⑥ Those who do not repent
(Luke 13:3) "I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish."
(Luke 3:8) "Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham."
(Acts 26:20) "First to those in Damascus, then to those in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and to the Gentiles also, I preached that they should repent and turn to God and prove their repentance by their deeds."
(Romans 2:5) "But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed."
3. Those who are saved will not be under God’s judgment.
People saved by the Grace of the Lord will be exempt from judgment, since they go to the kingdom of God and enjoy eternal life.
1) Those who realize their sins and repent them with all their hearts
(Acts 11:18) When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, "So then, God has granted even the Gentiles repentance unto life."
(Acts 3:19) "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,"
2) The righteous in faith, forgiven and justified by God, will not be under judgment
(Romans 3:22, 24, 26 and 28) [22] This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, [24] and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. [26] He did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. [28] For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law.
3) Those who bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit on earth
The fruit of the Holy Spirit includes repentance, love for God and love for neighbors as well as joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
(Romans 6:22) But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.
(Galatians 5:22-23) [22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [23] gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
(Ephesians 5:9) (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth)
<Conclusion>
(Hebrews 9:27) Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
You have to prepare your life after death.
You are destined to face judgment after death.
You should know a way to avoid from judgment and start to prepare.
Those who prepare their future are wise and blessed.
May God bless you to prepare the second life after death, with belief in Jesus Christ, our Lord.
