❚ Zipssitong is made of two wooden pots for growing tree seeds at home.

⓵ Making forests by contact-free method; Creating forests where animals are happy.

Due to the effects of COVID-19 in 2020, companies were unable to come to plant trees. In the spring of 2020, BGF Retail came to us to take acorns. BGF Retail is one of the companies that participated to creating forests on the slope of garbage mountain, Noeul Park. The company’s plan was to grow acorns at employees’ home and return to us by parcel service. I planted acorns for 10 years, but I never thought of distributing acorns to companies that participated in making 100 forests project. The acorns were in bad condition after the season, but they were raised carefully and started to return after a few months. The problem was over-packing. It was judged that we could not continue because the accumulated garbage such as vinyl tape, plastic products, and porcelain pots was unacceptable. However, their good will could not be ignored.

After thinking and thinking, we decided to make Zipssitong. We decided to connect Zipssitong with Animal Happy Forest, which was newly started in 2020.

⓶ Purpose

❚ People are safe when animals are happy in the forests, people are also safe.

Zipssitong is an activity initiated by our response to COVID 19. COVID 19 was caused by not respecting the lives of animals, and it is an environmental disaster that cannot be declared that there is no other corona in the future. Because we wanted to do what I could do as a forest maker, we started with the mind of 'If we make a forest where animals are happy, people will be safe.' We started with the idea of creating a healthy forest by ourselves even if many outsiders cannot participate because of COVID 19.

❚ Two things to remember: See the forest from a seed. Trash-free courier.

Surprisingly, many people do not know that they grow trees from seeds. It's might hard to imagine a small seed becoming a big tree. So, they are curious about the fact that growing acorns turns into an oak tree. Growing Zipssitong at home for 100 days is a great opportunity for children to see a big tree, a forest from a small seed. They can also learn a lesson about watering, adjusting the temperature, letting the sun and wind, and waiting for it sprout. Another thing, there shouldn't be any garbage in the process of exchanging Zipssitong. When Zipssitong returns, we grow the saplings for two more years at tree nursery then plant at Animals Happy Forest in Noeul Park. Noeul Park is a garbage mountain. So we have to pay more attention to garbage. It's easy to make sure there's no Zipssitong trash. You can send it as you receive it. Two wooden pots, an envelope, three raw rubber bands, and a soil cover are all and they are all recycled. If you don't use vinyl tape, it is 99% successful packaging.

⓷ Collect fallen trees: Collect fallen trees on the slopes of Noeul Park.

It would be natural to return to the soil from a fallen place, but it would not be bad to grow seeds for a while and return to nature.

⓸ Peeling: It may be nice to leave the bark as it is, but growing it indoors can cause problems and may seem lack of care, so I decided to peel it. It's not easy because it's done by hand, but it's much more efficient than a sickle using a wood tool called a shaving knife.

⓹ Making a woodworking site: We completed a Zipssitong woodworking site in a spacious and convenient place to carry luggage.

⓺ Making a sample of Zipssitong by hand: Using a chisel and drill, two people made just two sets all day long. Afterwards, one person made 100 sets a day by mechanical work.

⓻ woodworking machine preparation: We do not sell woodworking machines suitable for making gypsum boxes. So I made a drill press and a cutter made by assembling several used metalworking machines. It is a huge, dull, but old-fashioned antique. By purchasing an air compressor and some tools, full-scale production of the gypsum box became possible.

⓼ Gathering Tree Seeds: From mid to late September, it was still too early to collect outside, so acorns were collected in the park and used in gypsum boxes. In season, two tons of acorns were collected, Manchurian Walnut seeds were collected from distant mountains, and Chinese Flowering-quince tree seeds and Trifoliate Orange seeds were collected in the park. Until now, only acorns have been grown in Zipssitong but we plan to grow various tree seeds in the future.

⓽ Electricity drawing: The life of the woodworking ground is electricity. We couldn't run a high-performance woodworking machine because we couldn't use factory electricity, but we had to draw as powerful electricity as possible from the park. Unexpectedly in the difficult situation, the management department provided refreshing cooperation.

⓾ Canopy Covering on the woodworking deck: Main woodworking machines were installed on the woodworking deck and enough materials were collected. In addition to the main work deck, a secondary work deck and a small deck to store tools were made. The three deck sizes are 3.3m x 6.3m (woodworking machines), 3m x 4.5m (secondary workshop), and 2m x 2m (tool warehouse).

⑪ Cutting gypsum logs: Electric cutters have a large, exposed circular saw blade that rotates at high speed, so you should always pay attention in case of a safety accident. The cutter can cut logs up to 15 cm in diameter. Drivers should always keep the workplace in good order, take control of visitors, and protect themselves with enough rest and a smooth workload. Workers must wear safety clothing and must not forget two things: ‘machines are dangerous weapons’ and ‘do not take your eyes off the saw blade.’

⑫ Perforation of the Zipssitong: The standard size of the Zipssitong is 11cm outside diameter, 9cm high, and 8cm inside diameter and depth each. Operators should pay attention to the occurrence of machine malfunctions and be careful not to touch the cutting edge when replacing the wood. Each time you finish drilling Zipssitong, operator need to clean the work surface and surroundings with an air compressor.

⑬ Grinding and puncturing: When a wooden pot is made with a cutter and a drill press, the cuts and corners are then ground with an electric grinder, and one of the two pots is drilled into three or four water holes. Zipssitong has two wooden pots, one for planting seeds with soil, and the other of the same size as a lid and drip tray. Two wooden pots serve as a courier box to prevent waste. At first glance, this seems like a non-hazardous task, but with all tools there is a risk. It is recommended that workers wear safety clothing, grinder work with leather gloves, and drill with bare hands.

⑭ Fire stamping: To separate the pot from the lid, one of the two pieces of wooden pots is stamped with fire. It is also a simple decoration.

⑮ Soil Preparation: Soil is very valuable because we have to grow precious seeds in a small space for 100 days. To prevent impurities, we prepared the soil by hand rubbing.

⑯ Putting the soil and seeds: After the gypsum has been fired and water holes have been made, the next turn is to put the soil and three acorns.

Once you've got the right soil, it's time to add the acorns. Seeds are the most important in the gypsum. Acorns were sterilized by soaking them in wood vinegar solution for several days, and acorns floating in water were harvested, so most are healthy, but you need to sort them again. And there is something you must take care of. We need to make sure the acorn has holes. The larva may be in the acorn, but most of the time it has already come out. If the acorn embryo is not damaged even if the hole is punctured, there is no problem in sprout, but it is recommended to remove it as it is less trustworthy from the perspective of the grower. The acorns we collect are usually acorns from oak and red oak. The size and shape of acorns are different depending on the species of oak trees, so if you have three acorns, it is best to put them in different shapes and sizes for diversity. In the same place, acorns have roots first and shoots later. Therefore, it is better to lay it on its side when placing acorns. This is because the recipients will usually plant in that direction.

⑰ Paper Cover: A Zipssitong is made by overlapping the mouths of two wooden pots. One side contains soil and acorns (young oak when grown and returned), and the other side is empty, so a cover is required in between them. The cover is made of recycled cardboard. It must be made of thick and soft material to buffer and prevent soil spillage. When you grow Zipssitong and send it, you must use a paper cover normally. If you send Zipssitong without using a paper cover, the soil will pour into the empty lid on the way and all the roots of the young oak tree will be revealed.

When you receive Zipssitong, put a paper cover and three raw rubber bands in the packaging envelope for storage. And when you return it after about 100 days, cut the paper cover to fit the young oak trunk and cover it so that there is no gap at the entrance of the pot, then cover the Zipssitong lid.

⑱ Zipssitong packaging envelope: We have tried to effectively convey the purpose and meaning of the animals happy forest and Zipssitong, how to grow them, and how to send them back without trash. First of all, we posted the entire contents on the Zipssitong cafe and posted on YouTube how to grow them. The peace class was also tailored to the Corona 19 situation and posted on YouTube. And, in accordance with the purpose of garbage-free courier packaging, all instructions were printed on the packaging envelope itself. Once the Zipssitong is tied in an envelope with a raw rubber band, the courier package is completed. Two wooden pots, two raw rubber strings that hold them, soil and three acorns, a paper cover, and one raw rubber string that binds the envelope, when all of them are in place, this is called a Zipssitong.

⑲ Gypsum packaging: The most important thing when sending Zipssitong by courier is garbage-free packaging. Two wooden pots, one paper cover, one envelope, and three raw rubber bands are all. No more packing material is required when returning. However, when sending multiple pieces at once, you use a box, but the point to note is that you do not use vinyl tape. No cushioning material is required. Two wooden pots are enough. One more added material is hemp string. Only tie the box with hemp string. Do not attach vinyl tape. We continue to recycle all of our materials. We collected recycling boxes at the park or obtained them at the local marketplace. We removed all the plastic tapes and used them. When assembling the box, whether it is the bottom or the lid, if you fold the wings crosswise, it is sturdy without attaching plastic tape. There is a strong tendency to put a lot of cushioning material inside the box and put vinyl tape on the outside of the box in all directions, in a good sense that you must pack it carefully with all your heart. In this case, it is difficult to remove and a significant amount of trash is produced. Packing just as directed by us will not interfere with delivery. This is the packaging method we have determined after consulting with the courier. Unlike other courier companies, post offices tend to force you to put individual grocery boxes in a box, and attach vinyl tape to the box tied with strings, but you need to explain the purpose and persuade. Post offices must be aware of how much plastic waste they are generating. The post office has a great responsibility as a public institution to take the lead in solving environmental problems. As with all product, a Zipssitong be made through dozens of times of touch by several persons. Therefore, the recipients should consider it as a valuable product that nourishes life. On the other hand, the person who makes Zipssitong should not be loosely thinking that making thousands of gypsum caskets can sometimes be made poorly. Thousands of Zipssitong are made, but the grower receives only one. What would be the meaning of thousands of intact Zipssitong if one of someone's Zipssitong was made poorly? In the entire process of making Zipssitong, we must make it carefully with the sincerity of nurturing life.

⑳ Tips for growing Zipssitong: If you receive it, you can plant acorns by pressing them 2cm deep in the place where they are, but it is a good experience for children to pour the soil and put them back and lay the acorns down to a depth of 2cm. By touching the soil and feeling that they have added their own devotion, they can add devotion to the whole of growing Zipssitong.

- All wooden pots, bags, and raw rubber bands are recycled. We would appreciate it if you use it as cleanly as possible.

- If the courier recommends using vinyl tape, please convince him not to use it.

- Please don’t use a box for one set. Use only the envelope as when you received it, do not attach vinyl tape, and tie it once in the middle with a raw rubber band.

- When putting multiple pieces in a box, tie them with hemp string instead of sticking vinyl tape.

㉒ Growing the returned Zipssitong in the tree nursery: The returned Zipssitong is still too young to be planted immediately in the Animals Happy Forest. We have to grow them for two more years at the tree nursery in Noeul Park. You can also participate directly when we plant them at Animals Happy Forest while continuing to communicate through the Zipssitong Cafe.
