MASTER OF THEOLOGY (Th.M)
The Master of Theology program is
designed to provide men who desire to further their pastoral or teaching
ministry an opportunity for greater specialization in a particular theological
discipline and for the development of skills in independent research and study
in the student's chosen field.
As a post-graduate degree,
applicants for admission must have completed the Master of divinity or its
equivalent. This program assumes a certain degree of competence in the various
fields of theology. Therefore, through the program an attempt is made both to
integrate and to intensify the student's theological knowledge. This is
accomplished through a greater use of bibliographical resources, methods and
tools of scholarly research, and logical and critical writing.
Requirements for
Admission: A student will select a major from one of the five fields of
study: Biblical literature, Historical theology, Pastoral theology, Missiology
and Systematic Theology. 1. Possess a M.Div degree or its equvalent from an approved seminary with a cumulative grade point
average of 3.0 or above.
2. Have demonstrated an ability
to do original research with Biblical languages.
Requirements for
Graduation: In addition to the general graduation a student must have
completed the following: 1. 32 semester hours with at least 28 of these hours
completed at Washington College and Seminary. 2. Maintained a cumulative
grade point average of 3.0 or above.
3. Satisfactorily passed the
comprehensive examination covering the major field and completed the thesis.
