최근에 개인적으로 복잡한 일이 너무 많아서 스터디에 매진할 수 없었네요
아무튼 죄송합니다.
이건 저번에 스터디할 때 Prefer 에 관한 내용이 언급 되었는데 찾아서 정리해 보았습니다.
1. prefer
prefer는 ~하는게 더 좋다라는 뜻으로써 두개를 대 놓고 비교하지 않는 구문에서는 동명사와 to 부정사 둘다 목적어로 취할 수 있는 동사입니다.
비교표현에 있어서 prefer 동사는 주의하셔야 하는 동사입니다. 그 어원이 라틴어에 있기 때문에 비교대상을 than이 아니고 원칙적으로는 전치사 to로 표현합니다.
ex) I prefer red wine to white.
I don't like cities. I prefer to live in the country.
I don't like cities. I prefer living in the country.
하지만 문장에서 두개를 놓고 비교할때는 다음과 같은 세 구문을 따릅니다.
① I prefer something to something else.
② I prefer doing(동명사) something to doing(동명사) something else.
③ I prefer to do(To 부정사) something rather than (to) do(To 부정사)something else.
즉 비교 대상이 명사나 다른 것이 아니고 동사일 경우에는
I prefer to stay here than go to cinema.
즉, prefer to-inf(1) than to-inf(2)의 형태로 사용합니다. 위 예문에서 to go to cinema로 써도 되고, 예문처럼 to를 생략하고 go to cinema로 표현해도 됩니다. 하지만, than의 경우 일반적으로 바로 뒤에 to-inf가 오면 to없는 원형부정사로 사용하는 것이 일반적입니다.
그럼 적용된 예문을 보겠습니다.
ex) I prefer this coat to the coat you were wearing yesterday.
I prefer driving to traveling by train.
I prefer to drive rather than (to) travel by train.
-> to 나 rather than 앞에 나오는게 뒤에 나오는 것 보다 좋다는 뜻입니다.
2. would prefer (I'd prefer)
위의 구문은 어떤 특정한 상황에서 ~가 더 좋습니까라고 묻거나 답할때 사용합니다.
ex) Would you prefer tea or coffee? Coffee, please.

3. compared to 에 관한 내용
compared to 다음에는 명사형 즉 동명사를 사용하는 것이 맞는거 같습니다.
