Chapter 8 Things of Last Days; Eschatology
Heb. 9:27, Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
Ac. 1:11, “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.”
1. Importance of the Lesson
(Knowing God's time frame is the needed wisdom.)
2. View Points of the Issue (What the Bible says about the end time for.)
1. Future?
2. Past?
3. Timeless?
3. Two Kinds of End Days:
1. Historical (Public in History, the Second Coming of Jesus)
2. Personal (Private with Individual Death)
4. Personal Death
1. Unavoidable (Heb. 9:27)
2. Two Kinds of Death
1) Physical: Separation of Body and Spirit (Gen. 2:7, Ecc. 12:7, Jam. 2:26)
2) Spiritual: Separation from God (Rev. 21:8, 20:6)
3. Death to Unbelievers and Believers
1) Believers (Transfer & Transport)
2) Unbelievers (Fear of Unknown, Hopelessness)
4. End of chance to believe & Follow (No more chance to believe or not)
1) Eternal Life (For Believers)
2) Eternal Damnation (For Non-Believers)
5. Humanly Time Gaps between Personal Death and the Return of Jesus (Resurrection)
1) Paradise and Sheol (Temporary Resident, Lk. 16:19-31, 23:43, Ac. 7:59)
2) Sleeping (Ac. 7:60, 13:36, 1Co. 15:6, 18, 20, 51, 1Thes. 4:13-15, Jn. 11:11, 14)
3) And??? (We will get into God's Time Frame after the death, which is different than Humanly Time Frame. So, the time between personal death and the second coming of Jesus will not be an issue.)
5. The Historical Second Coming of Jesus
1. It will happen for sure. (Mt. 24:30, 25:31, 26:64, Ac. 1:11, etc.)
2. Nobody knows when but only God the Father. (Mk. 13:32-33, 35, Mt. 24:36-44, 50, 25:13, Ac. 1:7)
3. He will come back personally. (Jn. 14:3, 1Thes. 4:16)
4. Not only spiritually but also physically. (Ac. 1:11)
5. Everybody will see. (Ac. 1:9-11)
6. There will be signs (Mt. 24:15, 21, 29) but the moment unknown. (1Thes. 5:2-3, 2Pe. 3:3-4, Mt. 25:8-10)
7. It will be victorious and glorious Return. (Mt. 24:30, Lk. 21:27, 1Thes. 4:16)
8. Different Views on Time Frame
1) One by One: First Return to the Air for Believers & Rapture-> Tribulation-> Second Return to the earth with saints-> 1000 years Kingdom-> Final Judgement.
2) At Once (1Thes. 4:15-17, 2Thes. 1:6-7, 2:8, Mt. 24:27, 1Co. 1:7, 1Pe. 4:13, Tit. 2:13, 1Tim. 6:14, 1Tim. 4:8)
(We will see what it's like when it actually happened. 1Co. 13:12, For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.)
6. Teachings on the Resurrection
1. Biblical Truth (Dan. 12:2, Ezek. 37:12-14, Ps. 49:15, Mk. 12:26-27, Jn. 5:25, 28-29, 6:39-40, 44, 54, 11:24-25, 1Co. 15:20, 51-52, 1Thes. 4:13-16, 2Co. 5:1-10)

6. It will be the only one time so final without appeal or something like a complain (Mt. 25:46).
7. Judgement will begin from the house of God (in which God's people are gathering) as a Windy Cleansing Process, and spread out to the remaining whole as a burning wrath (Jn. 15:20, 2Tim. 3:12, 1Pe. 4:17-19, Isa. 66:6).
8. A Thousand Years Kingdom (Rev. 20:4-6)

2. Postmillennialism: Return of Jesus after the Kingdom
3. Amillenialism: Non-Kingdom; the Kingdom is symbolic.

10. The four Books of the Gospel and Christian life are all about the Kingdom of God (Mt. 4:23, 24:14).

1. It's a biblical truth (Mt. 25:41, 46, 8:12, Rev. 9:1-2, 11, 14:10-11, 21:8, 2Thes. 1:9)

12. Lessons of of Eschatology
1. There is an end of current life and human era after the completion of God's plan.
2. There will be new world and life which is righteous, peaceful, and joyful.
3. The saints should live as of awaiting the Second Coming of Jesus and Kingdom of God. We are building the Kingdom here and there. This world is a pathway to the Kingdom. This world is a part but the Kingdom is whole.
4. Think about how we supposed to live this life.
13. Our Responsibilities
1. Share the Faith and Life (Ac. 1:7-8, Mt. 24:14, 28:18-20)
2. Encouraging fellowship with other saints (Heb. 10:24-25)
3. Make this world better place with justice, peace, joy, etc. (Rom. 14:17)
4. Know the significance of the Eschatology for our current life. (We are living the last days.)
Because of Nature of Eschatology, which will be happened in unknown future, We still don't know/understand everything of it. So, we humble ourselves and focus on our faithful daily life rather than fearing or overly exaggerating of our future. Jesus will come back while we are living ordinary daily life in FAITH.
(Mt. 24:40-42, 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left. 42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.)
