세상이 여러분을 짓누를 때, 잠시 멈추십시오. 고요하고 작은 음성에 귀 기울이십시오. 하나님 아버지께서 여러분의 삶의 모든 것을 보고 계시며, “의인은 두려워할 것이 없으니, 주께서 그의 권능으로 그들을 지키”(니전22;17)실 것을 약속하셨음을 믿으십시오.

Elder Oaks was athletic and stronger than the attacker. Suddenly, the gunman gets distracted. The barrel wavers. Every human instinct screams: Fight back. Wrestle the gun away. Protect your wife.

He was just about to spring forward. He was ready to rely on his own strength.

But in that exact split second, Heaven intervened. Not with a flash of lightning, but with a quiet, arresting wave of absolute knowing:

“If you grab that gun, you will turn it into his chest. He will die, and you will carry his blood on your conscience for the rest of your life.”

Think of the profound spiritual restraint it took to listen. In a moment of life-or-death panic, Elder Oaks surrendered his instincts to the Holy Ghost. He relaxed his muscles, placed a gentle hand on the young man’s shoulder, and spoke with calm authority. Moments later, the subdued gunman put the weapon away and ran.

God had a sacred destiny waiting for Elder Oaks. If he had reacted out of human anger or pride that night, two lives would have been shattered, and his divine path would have been derailed forever.

You might not face a gunman today, but you are fighting battles. You face moments where you want to lash out, panic, or force your own way using human strength.

When the world presses hard against you, stop. Listen for that still, small voice. Trust that your Heavenly Father sees the entire map of your life and promises that "the righteous need not fear, for the Lord will preserve them by his power." (1 Nephi 22:17)
