My Memorable Experience Filming “Good Morning Korea”

I would like to tell you about a somewhat different experience I had this week.  As the U.S. Ambassador to Korea, I am used to talking about serious issues such as our military partnership, KORUS Free Trade Agreement, and North Korea.  When I was invited to appear on SBS’s “Good Morning Korea” Talk Show, I was a bit worried about having to talk so much about myself.  My wife, though, agreed to appear with me so that we could share a little more about ourselves and let everyone know what a special experience it is for me to be serving here as the U.S. Ambassador.   <img src="https://t1.daumcdn.net/cfile/cafe/2313D64153103D263A" class="txc-image" width="800" style="clear: none; float: none;" border="0" vspace="1" hspace="1" data-filename="#1 (1).jpg" exif="{}" actualwidth="800" id="A_2313D64153103D263A5743"/>Recording SBS “Good Morning Korea” Talk Show with my wife We were unsure of what to expect when we first arrived at the studio, but immediately the hosts, Park Eun-kyung, Kim Hwan and Cho Hyung-gi, made us feel at ease.  They were warm, friendly and professional.  After chatting with them for just a few minutes, we ended up feeling very comfortable. The questions focused mostly on my personal life, such as how I met my wife, how I spend time with my daughters and what kind of food I like.  It turned out to be a fun opportunity to talk about things like somaek (the beer + soju cocktail), my special recipe for excellent ramen, and my favorite Korean movie and song. Before the studio recording, one of the hosts Mr. Kim Hwan and a camera crew visited our residence and videotaped a tour of our beautiful house.  It’s a lovely Hanok and for those who haven’t seen Habib House yet, I recommend you take a look via this show.  (I understand our dog Tobi even made it into a shot!)  Although I am always embarrassed to see myself on screen, I am looking forward to seeing this segment of the show introducing Habib House. <img src="https://t1.daumcdn.net/cfile/cafe/2111644153103D2707" class="txc-image" width="480" style="clear: none; float: none;" border="0" vspace="1" hspace="1" data-filename="#2 (1).jpg" exif="{}" actualwidth="480" id="A_2111644153103D2707D405"/>With the wonderful hosts… Thanks for having us!
