잿더미 위에서 다시금 발걸음을 멈춘 네 마리의 드래곤.

블루가 차갑게 중얼거린다.

“환경은 그대로인데… 주기적으로 몬스터들이 달라지고 있네. 파도가 바뀌듯.”

레드가 눈을 좁히며 대답한다.

“그래… 똑같은 잿더미지만, 우리를 맞이하는 놈들은 언제나 다르지. 마치 이곳이 우리를 시험하는 것처럼.”

화이트는 땅에 남아 있는 해골들을 살피며 불안한 기운을 느낀다.

“새로운 적이 기다리고 있을지도 몰라. 조심해야 해…”

블랙은 어둠 속으로 시선을 흘리며, 냉정하게 덧붙인다.

“조심? 그런 건 필요 없어. 다가오는 게 뭐든 애시드로 녹여 없애면 된다.”

그 순간, 잿더미 속에서 흔들림이 일어난다.

거대한 골렘의 윤곽, 그리고 날카로운 비명과 함께 잿불 임프 떼가 날아오른다.

산맥 자체가 숨을 들이쉬는 듯, 다시 전투의 소용돌이가 시작되려 하고 있었다

잿더미 바람이 몰아치며 산맥의 균열이 크게 갈라졌다. 재 속에서 금속이 갈라지는 듯한 “끼이이익” 소리가 퍼지더니, 검붉은 갑주를 두른 괴물들이 모습을 드러냈다.

화이트 드래곤이 숨을 삼킨다.

레드가 이를 드러내며 불을 토해낸다.

“무슨 흉물들이야! 적은 언제나 꼬여드는군!”

전투 개시

워플레이트 괴물(재갑 전사) : 갑주 팔이 칼날처럼 변형되며, 동시에 화염 같은 잔열이 흘러나와 주변 재더미를 태운다.

워플레이트 궁수형 : 등에서 금속 날개를 펼치더니, 어둠 속성의 화살을 연속 발사한다.

워플레이트 거한 : 높이가 15미터에 달하며, 팔을 땅에 내려찍어 충격파 발생. 금속 피부라 평범한 불이나 물로는 잘 손상되지 않는다.

블랙은 날카롭게 웃으며 애시드를 토해냈다.

“금속이라면… 부식되지 않을 것이 없지!”

애시드 브레스가 거한의 가슴을 녹이며 증기를 일으킨다.

블루는 거대한 물의 회오리를 일으켜 궁수형들을 휩쓸었다.

“사막에서 목이 말랐다면… 여기선 물이 무덤이 될 거다!”

레드는 불길 속에서 돌진하며 워플레이트 전사를 두 쪽 낸다.

“기계 따위, 불꽃 앞에선 재가 될 뿐!”

화이트는 상처 입은 레드의 옆구리를 치유하며, 동시에 빛의 폭발을 날려 그림자 화살들을 튕겨냈다.

“너희의 어둠은 내 빛으로 사라진다!”

하지만 워플레이트 괴물들은 쓰러지며 이상한 기운을 남겼다.

갑주 틈새에서 흘러나온 빛은, 마치 어떤 강대한 존재의 힘을 봉인한 파편 같았다.

블랙이 낮게 중얼거린다.

“이건 단순한 괴물이 아니야… 누군가 일부러 우리를 시험하려 보내는 거다.”

레드는 주위를 둘러보며 으르렁댄다.

“그렇다면… 놈들은 지금도 우릴 보고 있겠지
